I was screaming at the "okay" When Hester threatens to expose Dean Munch. Went from serious to pure comedy in a heartbeat.

It was definitely made for people who love the Chanels with the finale being specifically done to point out to the misaimed fandom "You do not want to be these girls." It's a bait and twist
If you notice, everyone who liked the finale are the people who hated the idolization and "laughing with" the Chanel parts.

Then he reveals it's on the Kappa girls, then he gets killed, then I spent the next minutes wondering if it was Hester, then I see Hester minding ha business in Chanel's closet before #5 left Melanie's house and gave the camera that smirk and I screamed "IT'S HER! IT'S #5!!" Then Chanel all of a sudden tries to kill Melanie and I thought it was Chanel going to reveal herself as the killer. As soon as Grace and Zayday find out who the Bathtub baby is they go running into that scene I thought they were gonna expose Chanel. Then they actually expose Hester. Then we go back to Kappa and #5 looks like a suspicious mess then Hester's on the floor with ha ****ed up eye and blamed #5 as the episode ends and yet again I was back on board with #5. I was soooooo ready and excited for the explanation towards everything and what led her to do those things. It was looking so good. Then 10 seconds later Hester opens the next damn episode revealing herself as the killer. I was so mad.

I just finished watching it and this post probably accurately describes it the most for me
Although I was 100% convinced that Grace wasn't the Red Devil in the beginning, I knew they were gonna play around with it
When Hester said that she got rid of all the Chanels I expected them to be dead or something but no they end up being in a mental asylum
Then the Red Devil reappears out of nowhere again and you start to question the whole point of this season

Being a Chanel-type personality works out just fine in real life if you're moderately more intelligent than the character.

chanel is a manipulating asshole. even if you are more clever than her and don't shove your racism, narcism and hatred into everyones faces, you're still not a cool person.

I think Chanel. just meant you won't end up rotting in an asylum for life or something, which is probably true. Thing is, Chanel Oberlin is an idiot. Her going to jail make sesne.
IA that obviously even if Chanel had a brain, she's a vile human being and absolutely not a cool person or someone to look up to at all. There's a reason I loved this finale.

I don't like Chanel, she is a horrible person. The other two literally do whatever she says they have no brain of their own. However as the shows main protagonist, they work and are likable enough but in the end Chanel is horrible.

Eh. That's a question of morals and ethics and nebulous things, and we could go in circles all day with that.
That's part of why I love her; it's all relative, about perception.
[but to be clear, I won't condone her racism]

And you all wonder why I call the finale genius. It's targeted at the very kind of person who you replied to

Exactly; it doesn't always end in a crash-and-burn situation. Even if (re: paragraph 2) some people really, really dislike you.

I don't think anyone who likes the Chanel's like them because they wanna be like them, but because they were enjoyable to watch. From the Pilot it was obvious the entire show was A hyperbole. It's a comedy show , the characters are meant to be facetious.
Based on the thread I'm pretty sure most people didn't like the finale because of how awful it treated the story and not because "The Chanel's" lost.

I guess I'm the odd one out; it treated the story terribly, but I'm still pissed the Chanels "lost," honestly.

If we can call her homophobia, classisim, narcissism, self-absorption, bullying, overall spiteful cruely, and attempted murders "relative based on ethic and morality," then her racism definitely falls in there too. (Obviously, I condone none of it)
Morality isn't quite this relative. She's a pretty rotten person through and through, and I think Oberlin herself would admit she's a terrible human being if you asked her. She'd act like that's a good thing, but that girl was literally a psychopath.

Yeah, but when you're as stupid and vapid as Chanel O, it kinda will. As said, this girl admitted to attempted murder in an email and recorded herself attempting to commit murder. Someone like that will ALWAYS crash and burn.

It was meant to be satire. Mocking the culture. Mocking the mean girls
No one likes Chanel because she's a horrible person or because they wanna be that horrible.
It was all meant for people to love to hate her it's comedy at the end of the day
And this

http://atrl.net/?p=31630692 . And there are countless more examples of idolization. I have seen multiple people argue that #3 and #5 are not bad people at all. I have seen people argue that it wasn't THAT BAD for Oberlin to attempt to murder people and that the repeated attempts would not put her beyond redemption. I have seen a lot of issues with idolizing and laughing with her. I'm not saying you are, but a lot of people very much look up to people like the Chanels and plastics and want to be them.
It depends on the person. Some people do, others definitely dislike it because Chanels lost. It just depends on the person, as I said.
EDIT: And for what it's worth, I like #5 and O (I can like and hate a character). Don't like #3, but that's because I feel her actress and writing were poor
