Because of Iris Dono was a junkie and now he is an unhappy immortal. Iris is not a good person, nor she was a good mother.
Liz left behind his family, a good person doesn't leave his family like that no matter the issues he's facing.
The only one who deserves a happy ending is Will but we still haven't watched his backstory (if there is any, but he cant be that useless). And he is most certainly dead after the next episode (if he stays trapped in the hallway).
