Yes, people trashed Christina (and still do!) but she's still respected. Respected =/= loved. She's a polarising figure and known to be outspoken and outrageous. Everyone knows that she's talented (hence her 6 Grammy awards). The GP might not love her like they love Britney, but they certainly respect her more as an artist and a singer/musician.

The truth is, while Britney is loved for being a genuinely sweet and unassuming girl from the south who happened to become a mega star and endure her fair share of hardships and somewhat overcome them, she just isn't respected for her craft and that's okay. She's doing very well for herself.

She is respected. Christina is considered one of the best voices etc. Again, yall seem to have an issue differentiating between between respect and being liked. Being well liked doesn't necessarily correlate into being respected and vice versa.

Britney is well liked but she isn't respected.
In retrospect, Christina is respected but not necessarily well liked.

I guess it depends on how you define respect. I personally think there is a difference between being liked and being respected. Britney is well-liked. Does she have a lot of respect? I don't know but it doesn't really matter. Lots of stars enjoy her and she's a pop icon who has accomplished a lot in her career and those things can never be taken away from her. She's doing just fine either way.

Majority of the reason why Beautiful is so praised isn't because of the actual song itself but because of the vocal performance of it. It wouldn't have been nearly as revered had Britney sang it (mostly because Britney isn't as respected or as good of a vocalist.)
