Both the artists and Spotify benefit from this. People would either go out and buy the album itself or it'd spark an interest for them to subscribe to hear the album.

Because all the artists would start doing this. And if they're left without major free releases, everyone will ditch them.
They are NOTHING without freemium, as it's the only thing that makes them stand out on a market with far bigger brands trying to take them down.
And all this revenue coming from free streaming would be gone, while people would go back to illegal downloads, so the industry would start free-falling again. No one wins, except the select greedy artists that scream "but all the songwriters!11!!" Each time.
