The Sims can still have a massive TS2/TS3 sized era, if the game is right. So I feel like they know that if they put more money into the game, they'll get more back. The only reason TS4 is not selling like previous games is because they assumed TS fans were sheep (some are) and would buy the game regardless of how poorly made it was. Luckily TS4 is lowkey flopping so that'll motivate them for TS5.
That's scary because that means TS5 could be as bad or worse
Unless EA make the Sims 5 online again, and backtrack, it won't happen.

The Sims 3 sims NEED CC and Mods for sliders to look attractive. Otherwise you are stuck with the limited Maxis faces which are ugly. Sims 2 Sims may need CC but you can at least make them hot with the tools provided. Sims 4 Sims though >>>
The Sims 3 isn't miles ahead. The Sims 3 has benefits, but it's ruined by the amount of bugs, and lack of optimization for new cards. I mean look how many bugs just ONE EP brought to The Sims 3: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/686687.page
The Sims 3 had the best concept, but the worst execution of all Sims games. If it worked it would be the best, but Sims 2 is still a MUCH better game, and The Sims 4 has the weakest base game, but has much stronger DLC than 3.

This isn't close to the reason.
EA wouldn't let the Sims team make another Sims game unless it was online. The Sims team made an online Sims game, and when SimCity caused major backlash, EA decided to scrap the online game, and forced the Sims team to use the scraps of the Online game to build a 4th game and they had only a year and half to do it.
That's the only reason why the base game is the way it is. It was originally developed as a spin-off, not as the Sims 4. The DLC for the Sims 4 has been amazing though. But EA wouldn't let them start again. When the Sims 5 comes out, it will be based off an engine designed to be the Sims 5.
It would be like them making an Urbz game and then being like "oh lets make it Sims 4" and seeing all the issues devs would have had. They spent from 2008 - 2013 on the online game, and had to change it in just over a year.
The Sims 3 fell out of the Top 75 in 5 months, The Sims 4 has stayed in the Top 50 for 13 months. EA even admitted it flopped in the beginning, but is selling really well now.
I decided to re-watch Quxxn's LP's on YouTube and I forgot how much I miss her. so funny, and so dedicated to the series. I remember being so devastated when I heard she passed. I'm glad they kept her channel open though so we can watch her LP's over and over again.

Just downlaoded the first CC for The sims 4. It is so much better than the basic **** EA keeps feedkng us. Why don't they hire some of those creators like
i tried to give TS4 another chance the other day but i just don't like it and it hurts because the sims is a franchise i've always loved. i own all the sims games but TS4 is just something I don't like no matter how hard i try to convince myself i like it.

I swear she was one of the best gamers on Youtube, if not THE best
I still can't get over her

We can agree on WHY the game is the way it is now. The entire online/SC/ etc. mess caused TS4 base so lacking and limited. However, they must have thought, in some capacity, "People will buy the game regardless, let's keep it on schedule, vs pushing the game back another 18 months which is truly needed" If they thought people wouldn't buy a mediocre game they wouldn't have released a mediocre game! It's the same reason they were so ****ing quiet about 90% of TS4's details during most the promotional campaign . They knew damn well was/is a bad game
TS3 sold 1M first week and sold over 5M in it's first month. IIRC, TS3 topped TS2 becoming the best selling PC game of all time in like 2 1/2 years. TS4 isn't seeing that success. Plus the fact they've only released one real EP after a year of the base's release speaks volumes. Let's keep it real, TS4 will be lucky to shift 5M in it's total lifetime.
In the end, I blame EA because sims fans have ALWAYS said they didn't want a main-online game. Add-ons and such were cute but I can't recall a large number of people saying they wanted a main game to be online always, so why they thought that was a good idea was beyond me. TSO flopped after a couple years, most people disabled the online option in TS3 Showtime after a couple months, idk what they were thinking tbh.
You guys are missing the fact that in 2009, when TS3 got released, The Sims was a HUGE franchise (because of TS2). People expected The Sims 3 to be way better than the previous generation. But it got so many negative reviews. People didn't like the graphics at all. Over the years, the game got bigger, and the fandom got bigger.
It took The Sims 3 about 3-4 years to be popular again. Late Night was truly the beginning of the successful era of TS3. Same thing will happen with TS4. Just wait.
TS4 will never peak. All the EPs for TS4 are going to just be re-editions of TS3/S2 things and fans wanted new original expansion packs, Of COURSE Season/University is like one of the traditional EPs but overall the life of TS4 won't live up to the life TS3 had. TS3 era was able to last from 2009 till Oct 2013. TS4 will probably be dead by 2017. None of the fans care about these pointless expensive boring EP's they're putting out as EPs..

Quxxn was THE best Simmer on Youtube. Still no one can beat the quality of her content or come close to her personality. I was so sad when she passed
