Sorry but are people not realising Watermelondra is lowkey racist?
That too I'm laughing at how she came up with that on the fly I'm not defending her, but employers definitely do this, regardless of race. Ghetto ass names aren't just a black thing, especially in the US.
We had to participate in a mandatory survey done by graduate marketing students at my university about this issue.
It had questions like would you assume X was hard-working and smart if they had [traditional Asian name]
And other ethnic preconceived notions.
And finally, it asked if you would hire X over Y.
The composite results were chilling.
Fact is, non-white names are discriminated against all the time. People made generalizations in a split second that could cause someone else getting an opportunity over you.
What Raven said is feeding into the problem of America. And we're all biased and flawed.

Do ya'll read? It's from the 2006 viral video of Ghetto Names that they saw before they started that discussion.
. Even though it is discriminatory, you have to think of the clients the company does business with. Would average joe want someone named Waternelondrea to do business There are plenty of black people that drag those names too With that being said her self-hate is showing a lot.
I don't care what the employee's name is as long as he or she is qualified and respectful
Why is Whoopi on that show? Like she's way too good/big for it, it's embarrassing
Uuum keyword: USED TO BE.
She's not even an actress anymore, basically she's nobody in Hollywood.
I think it's smart of her to be there, she's gotta earn money somehow.

As for Raven... DISGUSTING.
Whoopi still acts. She was just in an episode of Law & Order.
I've never eaten watermelon I wonder what it taste like! also what if a girl just came out of the woods named waterwalderia and @s with some beautiful story about why her hard working mother named her watermelandria and becomes a massive pop star!?

She still acts. And she will always be a somebody in Hollywood. What is this ignorance?

My friend works in HR and she said the same thing. They avoid "weird" names and it's often not even a conscious reaction. When I was younger I used to think affirmative action was stupid and unnecessary, but it helps a lot because it makes them actually give those applications a look.
