could give two ***** about the reasons. I honestly don't care nor do I have a problem with it. My mom and sister do it for the reasons you stated as well. But if someone is going to insist that a white girl is appropriating dreadlocks because black people were it often (?), then the same logic goes to black women relaxing their hair to make it straight (which they naturally don't have), which white women do.

Except this still isn't comparable. The reasoning behind alot of black people straightening their hair, and other things like that (aside from the ones B'Day listed) is because of the white standards of beauty that they are forced to be subjected to and have been implemented into our society since the beginning of time. Black people are basically brought up to believe that their skin, hair, features, etc aren't beautiful and are subconsciously taught that white standards of beauty are the norm and are beautiful. Do you even know how hair straightening began? Black women were basically FORCED to straighten their hair because their real hair was considered ugly, unkempt and unacceptable. Till this day you can't get some jobs with an afro or dreadlocks
It goes beyond trying out a style because they think it's "cool" or "trendy"
So no, the "same logic" can not be applied because it's not the same whatsoever.
