I like Foxy..I owned all three of her albums. Broken Silence was slept on. But she lost her way..

After the Naked Truth, Kim lost hers too..she kinda gave me the old Kim on the Black Friday mixtape though..

Nicki brought attention back to female rap and I will always give her credit for that..but it's obvious where she got her whole style from..but she's made the best of it..and she doesn't have a classic album like Kim..or Foxy for that matter. She has verses that are good..but a collective hip hop album that will stand the test of time is where she falls short.

Yeah, Kim and Foxy's beef extended far beyond the music..it was some street **** that caused a riff with them..so sad because they were the first two to really have a different perspective on the hip hop genre as females..primarily Lil Kim..especially with her image.

Let me be clear.
I had broken silence BEFORE Nicki shouted it out.
I had Kim's Foxy Nicki Lauryn Salt n pepa, Missy albums etc.

730 is my jam, candy was a big record back in the day, bk anthem is my ish, as is tables will turn and oh yeah and the letter song forgot the title

Foxy hit a pivotal moment with that record but she didn't do much afterwards.

Kim evolved with each record. Hard core is a classic then she left the freaky side to a minimum and came with K.i.m then switched it up with her other few eras.

If we were to say SONGS then maybe some Foxy songs would rank her higher but as an overall artist she really didn't go far after her artistic masterpiece broken silence.

Foxy's first era she owned 2.2 of 16 songs...it was style over substance. Still had classics like get me home and ill bee

her 2nd era was forgettable although I love I can't and hot spot (sometimes)

broken silence is where she proved herself but then...
exactly that's why she doesn't rank as high as an MC artist

Me too. I only owned Ill na na and Broken silence. I heard Chyna doll but wasn't here for it.
so true. Broken silence should have been a defining moment but she lost her way.

It would be an actual classic album had she thought about the future. Like many back then, they preferred doing 2 or 3 cheap videos and pocketing the rest of the money vs. pop artist doing 4 or 5 standard a quality budget videos.

Had she released in this order.
-BK anthem for promo (no video needed just radio and promo performances)
-Oh yeah/tables will turn mashup for spring
-Candy for the summer
-730 for the fall
close with the letter or whatever isley song.
She would have gone platinum and had a classic era.

A few classic songs from her first two eras and a slept on classic album in broken silence is why I didn't rank her as high. it just wasn't enough IMO.

For what it's worth Iheard it all started cause they was in Philly for a show(they were on the bill together) & allegedly Foxy stole some expensive outfit from Kim.

I would say after Ms Goat because she went in on that album HARD!!!

Also she was in a battle with Atlantic records for over a yr then in another battle with Trackmasters for a yr too.

I grew up in the 90s on the east coast in the hood so I know what I am talking about, but its clear some didn't get into Hip Hop until Nicki came.

I honestly think that alot of people are really understanding the classic elements 90s hip hop brought to the table.
I mean Lauryn hill's miseducation just recharted on billboard

The DEMAND FOR A FEMALE RAPPER capable of a hip hop classic album and quality classic songs is real.

They want classic albums and classic songs that don't just sound good for the moment but stand the test of time.

People like the playfulness and the clever words but say something, move the culture forward. which is why I think people still gravitate to Queen la, Missy, Kim and Lauryn...

Great if you make that thread because I think there'll be more discussion about Missy, Salt n pepa, Queen la, Trina, Eve, Khia, Lauryn etc.

Yes I believe Hip Hop was at its BEST in the 90s The GOLDEN ERA

I noticed the other day her album was on iTunes in the Top 30 just a few days ago.

I really wished she could have followed up that album smh it was such a MASTERPIECE
