I don't get how the shade is thrown about Kim fans, Nicki, Azealia and other female rap fanbases remain perched and bringing up their faves even when not a part of the topic. That can't be the best argument being used.

What I've noticed is a shift and while Foxy unfortunately lost herself in the shuffle people are slowly starting to appreciate Kim more and more with her classic sound, skill set and most importantly stage presence and performance skills.
I never gave her props for her stage command and presence and saw her grammy performance from her grammy winning song and the bet thing recently and i understand why the 90s generation would argue for her.

I wish foxy would have put out black roses to show us more.

I honestly think she'd end up like many rappers of that time that might have had skills but didn't have stage presence or something originally within them to make them standout.

Timbaland did a great interview with the breakfast club referencing how you really had to have star power and many factors to make it back then. Now, it's about other things that are more contrived.

I think Nicki came out in the right era. 00s or 90s it would be a challenge to peg her.

they don't understand that. the 90s was the best era of hip hop by most people's recollection.
There were so many hip hop stars...now there are just many hip hop artists and very few stand for anything or really say anything and some rely on the shiny ball syndrome of easily excitable things to use as wow factor yet still can't tell a story correctly and make a movement in hip hop. Hustling is not a movement. Getting money is a hustle not a movement.

That said, 90s female rappers really had to stand out and hold their own against hip hop stars nowadays you can count on one hand how many great male rappers are out and there's less competition on male and female rappers end.

I think many female rappers of the 90s could hold their with the current generation but they are not relatable as they are older and hip hop to many is a younger person's sport

I was there in the 90s and 00s for her prime & she was that bitch still is!

She started that whole black Barbie image, the green, blue and purple wigs, she was the 1st female rapper to dress sexy!

As a lyricist, I'd say she's top 5.

Yeah I would say Black friday is a better example. Keys did spit but she didn't have a plan afterwards and no nicki didn't check her with one verse. Nicki plays alot and is very shady and doesn't come directly but when she does it mores bragging and nanana boo boo elementary teas. No ether included.

At least with the beef they went at each other and it wasn't so subliminal and scaredy cattish.

that said, the eve thing was a misunderstanding. Eve took a shot at Foxy and Kim thought it was at her. A hit dog will holler but I think it was because she was at the top and wouldn't understand why anyone would reference foxy.

Remy, i have to say did nothing to Kim and Kim used her to get back to the streets. Remy did win that one.

Kim did unite the mc's all except foxy and that beef is deep rooted and has a bit to do with jealousy and pettiness.

I don't think Kim paid them as much mind because the beef (minus foxy) was more competitive in nature...plus each had their own style and didn't take her blueprint and diss her

Overall Kim ranks high because she was able to do good diss songs but also put out a raunchy track and then tell a story like in Aunt dot.

Kim did have versatile songs just not a versatile image or singles as much as she could have.
