The position of my gifs (whether I post them above or below) depends on the text I'm typing. If I'm typing a short post with one or two lines, I post the gif below the text. If I'm typing a longer post, I post the gif above the text. It's easier on the eye to see an image before a lot of text, as opposed for the eye to see a lot of text first, and then an image later. When the post is short, it doesn't matter whether the gif is above or below the text, because the eye sees/reads both the text and the image at the same time. Just some basic Typography principles.
