What are you talking about? The 2000's had the most diverse music on pop/mainstream radio. So many of the pop and R&B hits sounded so different from one another. It's not like today, where every pop hit sounds similar to the next, and where every R&B artists sound exactly the same. At least there was some music diversity in the 2000s, where "Underneath It All," "Toxic," "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" and "Oops (Oh My)" can all occupy Top 10 radio, all sounding different from one another, and no one blinking an eye. Today, all the girls want to sound like a second-rate Kesha ("Cool For The Summer" is the latest example), and all the boys and lesbians want to look like Justin Bieber. The 2000's was pop music at its ultimate peak.
