That's good and true, but the other thing is most white people don't use it to offend as well...
Now if someone is saying it directly to a black person, especially in an aggressive attitude that's an entire different story.
It's like the word "bitch".
Many girls refer to their friends as "bitch" as a joke, but when it's a stranger and you're saying it in a rude tone it means something rude.
I feel it's the same with the n-word now. I personally do not use it regardless, but I know some white people say it to each-other as a 'joke' much like the word 'bitch'.
