For many poc it is a way of disempowering the oppressor. By taking away language that’s used to oppress, poc take away some of that power and redefine the language so it’s positive for us. It’s a way of letting it be known that poc will define ourselves any way we damn well please and no longer allow ourselves to be defined by white people.
