All Tommen does in the books is play with the cats Margaery got him, sign whatever document Cersei puts in front of him and have stories read to him by Marg.
He absolutely lacks all ability or training to manuver his army or start a war that could tear up Kings Landing.
In the show he's older and a bit more prepared, but for all intents and purposes he's equally unprepared and extremely scared after losing Margaery and Cersei.
It'd be up to Kevan Lannister as hand of the King to decide what to do with the faith. Depending on what they decide to do on the show with him, in the books, well
Okay, I'm just a bit confused one part. Why the hell is Westeros putting up with the super religious group? As far as I know they did not make the law of the land and existed well before this season. So why isn't Tommin just ordering a **** ton of people to murder them? I understand Cersei had a reason to keep them in power but it baffles me how powerless Tommin is when he could instantly wipe them out. Like, did I miss something?
It all happens often in history, it's a powerplay between the crown and the pontfiex, somtimes we have the Imperator to eat humble pie for Canossa, sometimes he his responsible for something like the Sacco di Roma .
With the young king in the city and the elder Lanisters outside of Kingslanding there is a power vakuum and here can a charismatic religious leader take advantage,
This show is called Game of Thrones.
It's a political drama. It's all about the games the rulers play to achieve their goals, the powerful and unexpected plot twists, the volatile nature of any and every major character (uncharacteristically so for any other show) and just generally the unpredictable course of the story.
Sorry if I hurt the feelings of hardcore fanboys who think that the show is faultless, but epic battles is not what Game of Thrones is all about. If CGI overloaded face smashing is the reason why you are watching this show, then I feel bad for you.
The season so far pales in comparison to other seasons and the ratings reflect that and the critics also agree. Instead of the usual steady climb in viewership, we are witnessing a tragic collapse. The first 5 episodes were utter boredom. 6 & 7 spiced it up quite a bit, but not nearly enough. 8 was an improvement initially, but then The Wall and the walkers happened
In terms of good TV, it doesn't get much better than S05E08 "Hardhome"
if you're underwhelmed then watch something else instead of blubbering about it on the internet

I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing that in ep 10. You pretty much hit the nail on the head though. Also, I'd like to point out that, while Cersei is a bitch, she actually WAS right about going to war with the sparrow. You declare war on him, he's going to execute Margaery (and now Cersei) ASAP. These are religious fanatics who want to basically take over Westeros and rule by their religious laws and ram it down everyone's throats harder than Westboro Baptist Church does. And Margaery/Cersei are completely in their custody. There's really only one way the start of a war between the crown and faith could play out, unless they somehow capture the High Sparrow.
EDIT: Mess @ people saying the ratings are falling when 5x08 was the one of the highest rated eps of the season (and therefore the entire show)
Last week's drop was because of Memorial Day, which they usually skip but decided not to this year
Also worth mentioning that GRRM is closely involved with the show, so you can't just blame the show writers. When an episode airs, it airs because GRRM has approved it.
False. GRRM himself has said he has not been involved with any episode in Season 5 and will not be involved with Season 6. It's obvious he no longer gives a damn how D&D have destroyed his show and is pulling away to focus on his own thing, including writing the novels and a new TV series.

Yep. You can tell by his "D&D have been working so hard 24 hours a day, 12 months a year" response which he gives every time now I think it's probably his way of "they're doing a **** job, but I won't call them out on it"

He won't be appearing at any point this season. His story is basically on hold.
Black people reacting to GOT is still the best thing on the web right now

My thoughts going into this 8th episode ...
I WANNA SEE CERSEI LOOKING BUSTED AND DISGUSTING IN THE CELL EATING RATS AND ROACHES CUZ THAT'S WHAT SHE DESERVES.
Quote:
I love that Tyrion is such a good people reader. He gave a very honest and accurate description of Jorah.
Quote:
"A ruler who kills those devoted to her is not a ruler who inspires devotion." #Preach. Danny needs Tyrion's counsel more than she needs anything else right now.
Quote:
Aaww, poor Jorah. I actually feel really bad for the old lovestruck geezer.
Quote:
YES! Cersei is looking just as busted and disgusting as I had hoped. Man, I hope she's tortured.
Quote:
Did that old ass nun just slap the sh*t outta Cersei with a wooden spoon?! TWICE?! AHAHAHAHAHA! Oh well, she's used to it.......I'm sure that's not the first time she's eaten wood, she'll be alright ;-P. But for real though, I hope she knocks all her teeth out.

Poor Tommen. He's just falling apart without a woman to tell him what to do.

Theon please tell Sansa!!

So glad Sansa finally knows.

Idk about anyone else but I am LOVING Tyrion+Danny. Not in a romance kinda way (I want them strictly partners in crime) just in the sense that they both need each other (Danny has the army, Tyrion has the wisdom) I can see what potential there is if the two of them team up and it makes me very happy. I'm excited to see what the two of them can get done together. #TeamTyranny all day.
Quote:
"Let me fight for her and I belong to you." Really Jorah? Really? Jorah.........your thirst is showing. I'ma need you to get that under control.
Quote:
DAMN. CERSEI IS DRINKING WATER OFF A DIRTY ASS RAT SH*T ROACH INFESTED JAIME CELL FLOOR!!!! BAHAHAHAHAHA, THAT'S WHAT YOU GET! If only Margaery got to see this.
Quote:
Oh.....so now you wanna cry? You weren't crying when you had Robert killed or when you were f*cking your brother or when you had Margaery and Loras set up or when you did whatever other horrible deed to someone else. But now you wanna cry though? Bitch, you can miss me with those crocodile tears. I hope you drown in them. I hope you cry til your soul falls out.

I'm very excited to see Crows and Wildlings band together.
Quote:
What's that noise? Oh no. Oh sh*t. Is it the White Walkers?!
Quote:
DAMN. They're leaving people outside the gate!!
Quote:
IS IT THE WHITE WALKERS??! They turn people into one of them that quickly? Wait a minute.....isn't this episode 8? This doesn't usually happen til episode 9!!! (I just looked online to check and make sure I wasn't wrong, I thought maybe it really was episode 9 and I just wasn't paying attention but nope, it's definitely episode 8. THEY SWITCHED IT UP ON US!)
Quote:
Y'all better get your asses on those boats! Instead of standing around looking stupid and confused.
Quote:
Damn, them things are coming through the gate, over the gate, and under the gate! Y'all need to put a 1-2 pep in y'alls step!! Ain't nobody got time! These things are coming for that ass!
Quote:
Why is Jon trying to play all day?! He needs to get his ass on those boats!!! I know he's all noble and good and sh*t but his deal with the wildlings ain't gonna mean sh*t if he's dead.
Quote:
Please don't let Jon die!!
Quote:
Omg. PLEASE DON'T LET JON DIE OR GET TURNED INTO A WHITE WALKER!!!
Quote:
Oh thank God!
Quote:
EEWWW! Those white walker children are creepy as f*ck!!!!
Quote:
OH HELL NAW!!!!! THOSE THINGS ARE JUMPING OFF THE CLIFF! OH HELL NAW. IT'S A WRAP. Y'ALL BETTER GET TO GETTING!!!
Quote:

Quote:

The lies, did you see his blog after the Sansa-gate, he dragged the book-readers through the mud
this season's been great. There's just so many plot lines that I cannot see them wrapping this up in 20 more episodes.
Also: everyone of the living Stark kids are growing and maturing into political power players or in other special areas (like Bran being the only TV character Warg) but I don't really see the usefulness behind Arya becoming a faceless man? I'm sure she could kill someone important later but her Plot Clout is the lowest.

well if she becomes a faceless man, she can basically kill anyone and the audience wouldnt have to know its her. But I feel that shes going to have to go through some real ****ed up **** there. I do not believe in a happy, successful training tbh. Not when it comes to GoT.

I just know she's gonna have to kill someone dear to her heart.
