Of course she can work on both things but I'm very sure she can't travel around the world and promote the album if she has to shoot and as far as I know they usually shoot about 6 months starting in summer.

This year is all about re-branding Gaga and then next year she will snatch what's left with the album.

What I'm trying to say is that she won't do a "hey monters the show ends/begins this night so here's my single". And that she won't rush the release of the album because she's getting good press in February 2015. The same happened with Beyoncé and Rihanna, Bey had the superbowl, a great year and then waited until the hype peaked to release the album, Rihanna will do the same, she has been getting hype these months and when her movie and the rest of the stuff she's working on are released and the hype peaks, she'll release the album.
I wouldn't count on getting anything from the new album this year. I'm sure her character on AHS will gift us some vocal slayage tho, being singing covers or original songs written for the show.
