She may have brought ballads to a forefront again, but she did not end the trend. There's been plenty of EDM hits especially more so after she happened.
I honestly feel like EDM just recently became a new style of pop I don't think its ever going away. But it's sure not smashing like it was in 2012. Adele definitely played a big part in it for sure.
Adele had no impact. She is an afterthought now.. The UK and her recipients will continue to use her and claim such things but she is hardly an important musical force
Yes, Adele did end the dance-pop era. She basically made the industry more boring. This year's Grammys were the ultimate example of how basic the industry has become. Singing predictable piano ballads and looking like your average neighbor has become the industry norm. It is sad but this trend will eventually end as well.
I don't feel like Adele ended or started anything other than Sam Smith. Pop radio goes thru trends. When I was in high school it was all hip hop until 2007 when Fergie and Gwen and P!nk brought in some pop and then in 2008 when P!nk and Katy Perry and Leona Lewis brought the pop and since then radio has been mostly pop, thankfully.
Now if top 40 would just add some rock into the mix radio would be worth listening to
