Nickelback at the core is hated by "real rock fans", because they see them as the ultimate commercialization of 90s grunge music and culture. Label manufactured to create watered down version of the music for the masses. While this applies to many bands, Nickelback is the most popular, so they are the target.

The only reason race is a factor is b/c white people are more commercially appealing, so people think it plays a factor. However the main argument against her is merit. People don't think Nickelback deserve their success over "real bands". Same principle with Iggy.
