A flop would have really killed her momentum that she had going way back then. I'm sure radios would be more apprehensive about playing a new Kesha song if her pervious one underperformed.
Lovegame feels like more of a final single anyway, definitely the weakest out of the four.
It's my fave Gaga single tbh. IDK why but it always has been since it was just an album track and Just Dance was the only single. Yes I got into Gaga before Poker Face blew up (and Just Dance in the US hihi) #originalstan

YLIMD is awesome with awesome production and awesome lyrics and melody
Guess you're right Sam, even in that spanish interview they thought KnT would be the next single and kept playing and asking about it
I mean I love YLIMD and think it's an obvious single choice but sometimes the production just annoys me. Like it's unpolished or something. IDK. It's not too bad though.
KnT would have smashed if it was a single. No doubt about it. Such a missed opportunity.
LoveGame was local af. Like I didn't get to know of its existance until years after, it didn't get played here at all!
It peaked at #4 here in Australia.

Luke ha smart informed ways
Which is why they probably stopped pushing singles from Animal after Take It Off failed to go at least Top 5. I mean Top 10 is good but Top 8 is like when you know you're running out of steam. So WRWWR was a good idea. I think Kiss N Tell honestly would have smashed regardless and peaked within the 6-10 range even after TIO "underperformed", or they could have pulled a Hummingbird Heartbeat and released it after Blow.

Slay. I got into all of my faves before they blew up. Some are yet to blow up
Which is one of the reasons why it works as a single. It's simple enough for the GP, and it's not too trashy or in your face with partying and drinking. The "worst" lyrics are probably the opening line tbh.
I could never stan for someone who had been around for years with a huge discography. That just doesn't feel right. I like how I've been following all my faves since the beginning and have experienced everything firsthand

I was in that middle zone for most of mine. All before they "blew up", but none really before they debuted. Like Gaga for example, I'd heard Just Dance on the radio and The Fame (the song) was used in the title credits of this model show my sister watched, so I looked ha up and found out it was the same artist, listened to ha album, stanned for ha, and then Just Dance blew up in the US and Poker Face was released and that blew up even harder and the rest was history.
With Katy it was around I Kissed A Girl as it was starting to get big (not as early as Ur So Gay), I checked out her album and really liked it, and new that Hot N Cold was a smash waiting to happen. Sure enough a few months later Hot N Cold was ALL over the radios. My taste for smashes even at like 12 >>>>
For Ke$ha I remember looking at the Take 40 hits charts or whatever and seeing this "TiK ToK' song at #3, never heard of it before so I gave it a listen and I was stanning before the chorus even kicked in. Then I talked to a friend online about it and she told me about the song Dinosaur, so I listened to that, and then I found out that it was actually HER on Right Round and not Katy Perry So I was then counting down the days until Animal came out.

Same. Living through the Teenage Dream era as a stan was just like This bitch got another one?? I can't at all of these bandwagon success stans coming in like they were always here for ha though. OOTB Katy is still the **** #comebackplease

Oh yeah definitely, by "worst" I mean like non-tame for radio as it takes about rehab and that.
Pfft no, if anything, the instrumental at the start of Kiss N Tell is even more grating
Drag her KNT is so hard to listen to, I haven't been able to play it till the end in a while.
YLIMD is just a fun jam. The instrumental is a bop and the lyrics are pretty smart. Plus I love the matching 'i''s in the pre-chorus (if you get what I mean, it's hard to explain)
