That's a better comparison but still no; not only is C2C not done, but it will end up likely doing about as well in the long run. It's really... not a disappointment nor an attempt to fix her brand since it was planned before ARTPOP and therefore was not planned in response to the underperformance of that album. Sure, she's trying to win back some credibility and commercial appeal with it now that she knows the state of her career, but to say it's a copout inherently is still inaccurate when it was planned so long ago. It's doing pretty well for the type of project it is, for lacking a single with the late Amy Winehouse, and for generally having been expected to do far worse.

I'll admit C2C is going beyond my expectations but it's still nothing worth gloating about, which was my original point!

That doesn't mean she created the album without intent of seeing commercial success, and she's still going on a tour. She does care about the success. Perhaps less than some who seem to be fixated upon it, but she does care.

She canceled David Letterman, Radio 1 live lounge, etc.

She has stated many times that chart success mean absolutely nothing to her.

When the record label told her how much BTD sold she was like "ok".

She cares more about how her art is perceived and the reception its getting.

She would have continued the BTD sound if she cared about success.
