Oh, and FYI, the article doesn't mention Britney Spears once. So basically every post that mentions her in here could be off-topic.
Have fun, fomos. And another congratulations to all the records that Taylor has broken with this amazing album.

lol at "fomos", homophobic much?
OIDA alone sold more worldwide than the cumulative sales of all Taylor´s albums so yeah, I dont see the point in comparing them.

So glad Britney kept her record. 14 years and counting. Now Adele is the next threat

Embarrassing. And to the people saying Taylor would've sold more than Britney if she released in 2000, let's not. Back then you needed actual talent to succeed in the industry. Taylor would've easily gotten lost in the mix Britney's, Xtina's, boy/girl bands, and not to mention the true country legend Shania Twain. If Taylor was around in the 2000's she would've ended up like Vanessa Hudgens or Mandy Moore, because even nowadays she barely stands out. She has no personality at all, people have the nerve to call Britney a robot, but Taylor's just as boring. IMO she's even more boring.
But whatever. I'm not going to lie: I am happy Taylor didn't beat the record. It's nice to watch the Swifties back track and act like it's no big deal, when last week they were thinking it would sell 1.5+ But I do want to congratulate Taylor for her 3 albums all debuting with over a million in sales. A lot of artists don't even have one 1 million debut album (!!!), so as I said, congratulations.

I agree that we dont know what wouldve happened in 2k. You cant extrapolate sales back to 2k and say well they woudve sold x back in X because they may have been overshadowed in 2k. Tastes had to change numerous times since 2k to get to where we are today.

This tbh. The entire time this was going on I was just think about how only some skinny white blond girl could possibly relate to so many people at once lol smh

Don't try and generalise us. Only a couple of fans are trying to drag Britney, but most of them trying to drag her are people who were never a fan of Taylor till a week ago and don't even post in our Base. And please, there are an equal amount of Britney fans trying to discredit Taylor, like what you're doing, so really you have no place to judge us like that.

I'm sure that if Taylor's peak was 14x platinum then she would be on constant decline as well...but congrats to Taylor she set her own record and saved the industry from a embarrassing and pathetic year...i cannot at that poster making it seem as if this whole week has been about 1989 outselling BJ.

This is ****ing stupid. How an artist that literally puts NOTHING into her own career can have this record still when Taylor writes all of her own music, producers, has full creative control etc. and she's snubbed.
Oh well, get those 3 1M+ selling first week sales, Lord.

I'd rather have the record of being the only artist in history to debut with 1 million three times than the record of being the female artist with the highest first-week sales.

you guys need to chill, 1.28 is a godsend in this day and age and you guys are turning this into a britney vs taylor s***fest, relax. Both feats are impressive, there are no winners or losers here.
and also, clamoring onto something from 2000 is a bit ridiculous, considering it wasnt even the second highest first week selling album of that year anyways, while taylors is the first platinum selling album released of this year...and its done within one week.

Yes you would.
Especially considering one of those three 1m debuts is only a few thousand copies away from outselling the highest first week.

Trying to come for album who is bestselling of the year in one week. In November. I mean....those Brit stans stay self-dragging and looking a fool. Clearly the conditions are nowhere close to similar. Market share comparison will prove it loud and clear as well.
