I swear I wish some of you just had a moment of meditation before pressing the "post" button.
how many albums has Aretha sold? Talent can make you a Legend. the critics and the media can take you there you even if you sell okay-to-good numbers. that's how Prince became what he is. he never sold huge numbers but the critics kept praising him because he was so IN HIS OWN LANE and that's what you fail to see with Beyoncé. the girl is in her lane. rap singing who is doing it? bringing 20th century R&B back in the middle of a dance music trend in 2011, who? singing agressively about Feminism since 1997 and still got men to her feet, who? dancing and singing on stage (doing both perfectly), who?
plus, it's not like Beyoncé hasn't sold a lot of records WW. and she did so when selling $.99 singles wasn't that easy. Beyoncé came out when albums didn't sell that much anymore and when singles were doing okay. she came in the middle of a transition period and still sold 150m solo and 60m with Destiny's Child
not even adding that she's the only 90s artist to have successfully made a transition to the internet age. and she owes it to Single Ladies being the first internet dance craze EVER. YES.
