Because she lacks something?

'I kissed a girl and I liked it' - this lyric is ICONIC like the 'here comes the thrilllerrr' line. Katy helped popularize lesbianism in popular culture.
Fireworks is an immortal hit just like Mariah's christmas song; every 4th of July the song will be played.
The nerve of P!nk stans in here calling me delusional. Ironic how P!nk came into the game trying to play off the stereotype of a popstar yet she is the definition of a generic popstar.

Britney is the standard of what a popstar should be like (according to society, and in my honest opinion. I'm not a stan btw).
P!nk has short hair and has plenty of curves, and sings pop-rock music, which can be considered sombre. Generic?
Look at her.

Nothing wrong being a generic popstar. You're implying Katy is generic and I accept that but Katy's first album has proven she's capable of making good pop music that isn't generic. Katy has a great tone and she sings with conviction so stop coming for Katy, the topic is about Pink
|
And P!nk can't?
Again don't come for one of your faves biggest inspirations - Katy has been doing a lighter and a more pop version of P!nk since she has come into the scene.
You're acting like Katy is superior in ANY way

nobody says that pink should be the queen of pop. madonna is.

I mean, the fact that several of us have to break this down for some is...
But thanks guys for explaining it Barney style.
Once again, simple stated, based off of ATRL logic, P!nk should be the QoP.
Agreed? Yes. Great!

I know you're trolling. But.
Madonna. Bigger albums, bigger songs, bigger tours, more iconic moments, all respected publications call her that way. For starters. And there are many more girls before Pink to even be considered.

Yeah in a superficial level she did try to play off the stereotype but I'm talking about sound not image. I thought you would've comprehended that.

Last year Billboard did refer to her as the QoP. Or at least they called her the biggest popstar in the world.

When she started doing pop rock - no one else was doing it
Not her fault Kelly, Avril, Katy and many others jumped on the ship

I'm not trolling. I'm asking a serious question and I don't know why it bothers you. We can agree to disagree you know. I don't know if you feel like I'm subliminally trying to shade you or your fave, but if you think that's the case then I'm shading my own fave and some of the Hive as well. It's really NOT that deep.
So now, you're saying, void all other pop girls, Madonna is the QoP? Ok. You can have that.

Yet they call Katy the Queen of Pop. AGain, that's what the discussion is about. Why do other, less successful pop stars being called the Queen of Pop but not Pink.

How does Pink fits these:
an aim of appealing to a general audience, rather than to a particular sub-culture or ideology
an emphasis on craftsmanship rather than formal "artistic" qualities
an emphasis on recording, production, and technology, over live performance
a tendency to reflect existing trends rather than progressive developments
much pop music is intended to encourage dancing, or it uses dance-oriented beats or rhythms

And I will just state for the record, as a person who isn't even a fan of P!nk, that if the girls had to line up to see who should where that title, sans Madonna, P!nk should be toward the front of the line and not the back.

Pop-rock isn't generic. If it was, Katy Perry wouldn't have been forcing this pop image down our throats. Remember Katheryn Hudson back in the day? She was a lot like P!nk, listened to rock and wore dark eye-liner. What happened?

Then I can list you tons of songs from P!nk which are at least as much "experimental as Dark Horse".
