The term "dated" more so is used to describe a song that sounds like it just missed a recent trend, not that it sounds like it belongs in another decade where the musical soundscape was completely different. Because it does sound a bit like something that would have been released a couple of years ago when this kind of EDM-influenced pop was really riding high, I absolutely get the "dated" comments here.
Side note, but why can't stans here and there just accept it when people outside of the fanbase may not be ******** themselves over their fave's new song? If you like the song, great, enjoy it! If people don't and are constructively expressing valid reasons as to why they don't like it, I don't see why there's a need to get defensive or childish by turning this into some uncalled for stan battle by bringing other artists into it.
