All in all, any member leaving will cause waves to their popularity. They're only selling now because of their unity, until the Sooyoung/Wonbin rumours last year, their distinct lack of scandals, the impact of the string of singles from Gee to Hoot and their promotional onslaught.

Now that it has been 4 years since Hoot, they've had a handful of scandals in the last 6 month (regardless of how ridiculous they are) and the fact that they aren't promoting good music, they will have nothing to fall back on if a member leaves.

Certain members may be imperative for their success, certainly more than others, but each member has the potential to be responsible for their downfall.

Why is everyone underrating Sooyoung so much?

She doesn't add much to the group vocally, but visually she is striking and unique, and she does play a bigger part in their Japanese releases. Imagine Galaxy Supernova without Sooyoung. Or even Korean e.g. Run Devil Run. She adds some personality to the group that some other members don't have.

It's tricky with 9 members as specific songs rely on specific members more than others. Like BK said, the conclusion is that OT9 needs to remain intact.
