Sooyoung - sub vocal/rapper/fluent Japanese

SM values Sooyoung more because of her Japanese. It makes the group more marketable in Japan to have a fluent speaker.

Sunny doesn't add anything besides her fake aegyo and big breast. She's there because she's a relative of SM. But I still like her though.

I agree that Sooyoung's Japanese is an asset to them but I think their Korean audience is the most important in this case. Sunny's technically one their main vocalists, so. Her adlibs in Europa alone >>>>

Cheap Creeper basically reveals what SM thinks is the vocal line. Jessica, Tiffany and Taeyeon got the most lines. Sunny and Seohyun less. SHY + Yoona didn't get any lines as they are the dance line.

Is Sunny really that popular in Korea? She has that radio show but I've heard many people don't like her because of her scandals of ps and her fake personality.

I agree, they're both the weakest in their respective lines. You could argue that Sooyoung is a stronger dancer than YoonA, but the latter is vital because she's their visual and most popular member.

I have no idea about her popularity tbh. I'm thinking more about their music - she does a lot of the "in between" lines and occasional adlibs. Plus, she's a niche visual.

I think the Cheap Creeper line distribution was more about the English. If I recall correctly, Sooyoung did get a line, and Taeyeon only had a small part of the bridge.

Sooyoung isn't in it at all. I agree musically Sunny has a bigger role than Sooyoung in SNSD.

But then when you switch to SJJD, Sooyoung has a lot more lines in their songs. But Flower Power without Sunny would be just...

I love her, but I feel like the only member who if she left wouldn't make an impact on the group, would be Sooyoung. She's constantly out-shined by Hyoyeon and Yuri on the dancing side, and vocally she falls into the trinity with least lines. Plus, compared to Hyoyeon, there's less distinction in her voice setting her apart from the other girls with less lines. Plus, she's again out-shined by Yoona on a visual level. Sooyoung is one of my faves, but even I can admit if she was taken out of the picture nothing key would really be missing.
