In reference to your other post, I agree and I think you personally do a great job at communicating with us. But I've never heard from another moderator beside Doc, Lipton, Katie, and supaspaz. Nobody bothers to even talk to us and the help request system is inappropriately slow. I know how the higher up thing is and I'm sorry that you guys have to put up with it, but ATRL was fine for over a decade and could support itself. i don't understand the sudden push to be clean and pretty when we aren't. But really, how much can a site like this cost a month with no employees and probably a $50.00/month bill. I think the problem lies within the admins using this website as a sort of income by driving the mods to clean up the image of the site so advertisers can show their ads with a site that has a good rep. It just won't work. Thank you for the response, though.

I can't divulge what I know about site costs, but I know it's several magnitudes higher than your estimation - remember, we currently support well over six thousand active members, another sixteen thousand inactive accounts, and lord knows how many guests. In addition, costs for the upgrade so far have not been cheap and will continue to be a significant expense; the site is a financial investment with little or no return for Joe. The push to be clean is a mix of several things, but the biggest reason is for the ad providers - without them, we don't make enough money to continuously sustain the site.
As for member-mod communication, we're going to redouble our efforts, but we want to make it clear that whatever we do needs to be accepted and reciprocated by members.
that'll cut expenses down. We need to be like china and watch our population. And we should crackdown about permabanning the members that are immediately messy upon joining.
