Why did the If Iggy started using the N-word... thread get shut down? I think that's a really interesting topic, and a really thought-provoking hypothetical being posed to ATRL, especially given her ethnicity, the use of that word by other rappers in the industry and her recent accusations of cultural-appropriation.

Why are all the most interesting conversations on ATRL the ones that get shut down immediately? It's like every hit thread gets shut down and we can't have the discussion. I don't get it. Is it a bandwidth thing? Because the Solange/Jay Z thread was gaining like 3 pages a minute.

I don't think it is as much with this specific topic but on the whole, ATRL is just too immature for a lot of serious topics which is a huge shame. As long as they don't spiral out of control though, they usually stay open for awhile. It used to upset me a few months back but I just look at it now and sigh.

There aren't a whole lot of thoughts to provoke. White people don't get to use that word, and if Iggy did, her career would be over so fast your head would be spinning.

ATRL is incapable of respectfully handling a discussion about race at it is. Wrapping one in Iggy flamebait wasn't going to improve the level of discourse any.
