The creator of Youtube couldn't find video of the incident online, so it inspired him to create the video sharing site. So you all can thank her for contributing to your flop faves having chart success.

Yeah, sure, lets act as if for example Edith Piaf, Serge Gainsbourg, Jacques Brel and many other truly outstanding, influential and widely known francophone artists never existed... smh

you are clueless, most of Celine's catalogue is in french and she doesn't have one successful album in French but almost 10 among almost 15.

Janet. Influenced Britney, Aaliyah, Ciara, Beyoncé, & countless others. Changed pop music. Made New Jack music popular. Choreography is still copied. Her looks are actually iconic, plus her Rolling Stone cover has been redone by so many people. Her Good Times character is referenced in comedy skits to this day & I see girls getting "Poetic Justice" braids on the regular.
Celine has the Titanic song.

And Titanic would have a record-breaking theme song anyway. But let's thank Celine.
And Youtube would exist anyway. But let's thank Janet.
And American Idol would exist anyway. Let's thank Mariah and Whitney.

When will people realize, an artist having "local" hits means nothing
The ONLY woman who I've ever seen beat Madonna on an impact poll on ATRL was Aretha, she probably has never had a #1 hit outside of America, and she only has 2 here. Yet, noone can deny that Aretha is hands down one of the most legendary voices in music history, and unarguably the most legendary female vocalist of ALL TIME. Shes been cited by any credible vocalist as an influence whether it be in America, Africa, Asia, Europe or the moon. Whitney who inspired ALL vocal proteges today and even peers like Freddie Mercury cited Aretha. Thats Global impact, despite having local hits

THIS. These people don't realize how little "being global" actually matters. Aretha had virtually no success outside of the US, yet she's more impactful than all of our faves combined.

Aretha was one of the biggest female artist of her time and had immense worldwide success. She was adored in Europe, for example.

How is that impact though? Did people forget it was the soundtrack of the 2nd biggest blockbuster movie of all time?

That was unecessary.
As I already informed, Celine's best selling album was released before Titanic. But don't get mad your fave doesn't have such a worldwide hit so big like Celine.

That's not true, Aretha is even moral local than Janet.
During her prime she was outshined internationally by acts like Diana, Barbra, Donna, Dionne and many others.
I am in my late 30's, love music and i only discovered her in that VH1 special. Not many people here in the UK know more than 2 songs of hers, actually now i can only remember Respect and that Dionne Warwick cover.
But R&B/Soul was never very strong outside U.S, this is a very strong kind of music there, but not here. During Aretha's prime, Europe was discovering punk/rock and of course, disco.
