No, that's not what I'm saying at all. I just think it's as easy as 1, 2, 3 to randomly say that the biggest albums of our time are equivalent to those of 1999 or 1985. There are so many other factors to consider.
There is never going to be a perfect way to compare, but some are better than others (like just using raw numbers devoid of context).
Funny how D!nk, Faylor have all failed to beat their previous tour numbers while Beysus almost doubled her last tour and had enough demand to triple it if she wanted ...
The ****? She is selling better than Katy, Beyonce, and Gaga without even an album out
In what world?
Unapologetic had Diamonds become a #1 hit, Stay a Top 3 hit, Pour It Up a Top 20 hit, What Now / Right Now Top 40 hits, and additionally Lov7 Song became an Urban hit, The Monster went #1.
Has she even crossed 1.2/3M?
Meanwhile Bruno's singles performed similarly, and he's 2x Platinum. P!nk performed similarly and is 2x Platinum. Beyonce had 1 hit and is approaching 2x Platinum.
"We Found Love" literally spent 10 weeks at #1, and Talk That Talk didn't sell 1M and she didn't even open at #1. She could release 50 #1's on an album, and it would still fail to go Diamond.
Genuinely the definition of a horrible album seller.
Rihanna can be an album seller and score consecutive #1s on the Hot 100 right now if she tried at the same level as Katy or Gaga. The fact that she can do the numbers she does with very little promo or bad single choices says a lot. If she had a team that knew the potential in songs like Breakin Dishes and Jump... she'd be 2 more #1s ahead of Katy and closer to Mariah.
