And I disagree. The comparisons that people draw are typically between the biggest albums now vs. the biggest albums back then. Nobody is talking about how Warrior or some sht that barely charted would be going diamond back then cuz "every album" was doing it.

But even then, I find it hard to believe that The Fame or Teenage Dream would be equivalent to diamond albums or even 8x platinum albums in 1999. It just doesn't work like that.

Why on earth would it be implausible to think albums with as many hits as The Fame and TD would sell that much back then? Even friggin Ace of Base went 7x Platinum in the US.

It really depends on the album, some albums i feel would have sold more back then, than now and some would have sold less, it is all about what time period it was because some periods liked different kinds of music

No, that's not what I'm saying at all. I just think it's not as easy as 1, 2, 3 to randomly say that the biggest albums of our time are equivalent to those of 1999 or 1985. There are so many other factors to consider.
