My point being that after Play runs its course I can't see YG bothering to give them another album for a couple of years, if at all. Bear in mind 2NE1 are top tier and he didn't let them release a damn album for 3 years, imagine if Play only shifts 50k copies tops.
I think YG just had some new strategies in mind for 2NE1, but their New Evolution tour kinda screwed up the initial plans for an album after I Love You and them underperforming with their singles last year probably screwed up that '1 single a month' strategy. Taeyang and WINNER are both victims of YG being messy with 2NE1.
I do believe YG genuinely cares about his artists. I don't know exactly how succesful Lee Hi was last year, but it looks like AKMU has the same appeal as her and can do pretty decent numbers this year.
Does SM have any sucessful OST singer atm? OK.
Is 15& sucessful, do they have a hit yet? OK.
Amm... yes? Their Breath releases have done very well. I'm not an OST listener, so I can't be sure, but I know Taeyeon's OST tracks usually slay. So I assume other SM artists do the same.
15& are getting there. Their first song charted @ 6 and the second @ 3. Both higher than First Love, which charted @ 11.

I really like AKMU their song was good it isn't bad I like but it's not amazing either. I've heard the same type of song from other korean indie/alternative artist so for me personally it's just alright. There is nothing to be pressed about just because not all of us love the song......
That's not what I'm saying though. I mean the song is cute. Not everyone has to love it and I'm sure the album will have different variety for people. What I'm saying is on here, a YG release is usually treated more critically than other agencies.
You also have to remember 2NE1 was never making him money like PSY or BIGBANG or GD solo was. They also were on a pretty long world tour but when they did come out, CRUSH is a solid album. By rush releasing albums like SM and JYP you get one or two great song and the rest is filler. Akdong Musician will make money on their name alone so if this album is a success expect more albums sooner rather than later and they also probably have a clause in their contract to have certain about of albums before contract is up. Same thing with Lee Hi. She was a monster rookie and one of YG's favorites but she is nowhere to be seen except in random tv excerpts. YG has a plan now.

So what the hell After School's chart positions have to do with 15&? You are really out of arguments so you have to bring "muh physical sales" or whatever to the table?
You're an SYG-sized mess, don't even reply to my posts anymore.

Damn sis, you are so right. Every recent SM and JYP album I can think of has been absolute garbage. TVXQ, f(x), GOT7, EXO, 2PM, SHINee.. these bitches their albums just aren't up to the YG standard.
If YG does care about his artists he has a funny way of showing it. Taeyang getting put on hold and 2NE1 always being told they're not **** compared to SNSD.

!!
Maybe we're going about it wrong though. He genuinely seems to care about GD, Seungri and Daesung given their solos so maybe we're jumping to conclusions.

You have a point. But I doubt Dara,CL,Bom and Minzy appreciate it no matter the context. They worked their ass off and deserve some praise for standing on their own two feet.

noooooo
Callum...you know the reason why F(x) has such great albums is because they are stuck in the basement and have the time in the world to create great music...but more so GG's Mr. Mr. Mini...and while y'all jizzed over GOT7, only one song was really impressive. So don't act like I've been wrong.
You need to stop taking the stuff I say literally and realize I'm being subjective based on what I have observed and seen some of you all say on here.

You know damn well no company wants to let their artists promote at the same time. He screwed up with 2NE1 so he had to take care of that first before going on with the rest of his schedule. AKMU probably had to debut around this date because of the Kpopstar promo they could benefit from + he can't wait too long now with WINNER before their hype has completely died down. Taeyang will sell from his own name alone anyway.
And yeah, I have nothing to say about those SNSD comparisons
They debuted to acclaim in 09. A Big Bang collab. The first mini with two singles, as well as Bom and Dara's solo debuts. 2NE1 TV also debuted then.
They released their first album in 2010, continuing with a second season of 2NE1 TV. Three MV's, two singles and they also went to record with Will.I.Am. Not that it matters now, but that alone is still more than actual dungeon artists would dream for.
In 2011 they made their Japanese debut. Bom's second solo. And their iconic 2nd mini, including IATB. They concluded 2NE1 TV with a final third season.
In 2012 they continued with Japanese promotions, releasing COLLECTION and first original single, SCREAM. We also got the legendary I Love You. Yes, this was when it started to become messy, but they did do an (actual) global tour and made an internation campaign with Adidas, alongside people like Nicki.
We all know 2013 was a MESS, but messy or not, we still got 3 MV's, CL's solo debut, 2 new English releases (Gettin Dumb & Take The World On) and plenty of music show promotions throughout the year. Plus they tried variety shows (although that probably shouldn't have happened).
And now we're here with CRUSH. So far we have 2 MV's, with a third coming. A second CL solo. Appearances on ANTM coming up. Billboard chart history and a new global tour to start.

Yang Hyun Superior appreciates your support and welcomes you to the family. Trashcans are provided if you wish to discard your useless SM and JYP albums along the way.

They are a SELF PRODUCING act and they're NOT idols, so their agenda is basically studio > promote > studio again. If this comeback succeeds they'll have another one in less than a year for sure.
Lee Hi hasn't had a comeback yet because she's not a priority atm (considering her last comeback was underwhelming in terms of success) and she cannot compose/produce, so she depends 100% on the availability of the house creators (which are most likely busy with PSY, Taeyang, WINNER, new girl group...).
About your last sentence, physical sales are as irrelevant as digital ones when it comes to making money, unless you manage to sell like +300k. They release good albums for the impact on digital charts, which generates good press/promotion and raises the GP view of the group. The way these companies make real money is Endorsements + Touring.
You have a point. But I doubt Dara,CL,Bom and Minzy appreciate it no matter the context. They worked their ass off and deserve some praise for standing on their own two feet.
YG's blatant disregard for hard work has always been disgusting though. There were moments in 2NE1TV where I genuinely wanted to vomit on and punch him because he's such a ****.

But like... there were 6 albums released under YG's label last year. Promoting at the same time? He had enough time to promote each artist for 2 months, so don't try and act like there wasn't time for him to promote others without it clashing.

6 July 2012 - 26 February 2014 we literally had 4 official songs from them.
How is that not a dungeon? Even f(x) get their yearly releases.

Nobody is "arguing". You're getting heated because I answered questions you asked and you didn't like the answer. After School's chart positions are being brought up because you are a fan and I'm showing the contrast of 15&, which you asked me to prove. I mean, what better way to prove they are doing well, then to compare to your faves?

Last year he was too busy with trying to get sponsors and planning WIN and WINNERTV and getting partnerships and stuff. And expanding his acting department. I get it. It sucks how he seems cold to his artists but if you look at every single artist who left, they all still say good things about YG. There must be a reason why they all decided to stay with YG, you know?

2NE1's initial promo schedule would have looked like 2-3 weeks promo, 1-2 weeks off before starting promo for a new single, for 4 months. He had huge things in mind for them that not just didn't work out. Sure, I guess your point still kind of stands, but there were some huge management problems his company had to recover from before moving on.
