Season 1 in retrospect felt like one long introduction to everything, and for me at least the show didn't pick up until Season 2. Season 3 and 4 were great and Season 5 started strong but it all starting going a bit meh for me when the whole Augustine vampire storyline kicked in. Silas felt like an actual threat but now it's just boring.
it's absurd that Stefan since season 1 has been just with Elena (or Katherine) !why Elena can't be with a normal guy , and demon and stefan with 2 different girls just for one season ?!
Both Stefan & Damon hooked-up with Rebekah - so at least that was something different. I was really hoping that we were going to get a lot more Stefan/Rebekah stuff after Klaus gave him his memory back and he remembered her so I've always been disappointed that Stefan's feelings for her seemed to completely vanish (as did his bromance with Klaus) - because I thought that was a cool twist and I always wish it had been explored more.
I think Elena just needs to be single and focus on her, sadly that will never happen. She will continue to ping-pong back and forth between the brothers.

Wanting to show a family friendly theme is what shows do. Love conquers all.
I think a step in the right direction is to either let Elena be single and free or have one boys in a relationship with someone else. We also need some new supernatural entities. Teen Wolf can be messy storywise, but I love that they at least introduce new monsters and stories outside of just wolves.

i mean a serious relationship...not just occasional! i remember in the first seasons hoping to see damon and bonnie togheter, like in the books, than i realized it would have been impossible to change that boring triangle...even because the writers never developed particular relationships between damon /stefan and the others characters(don't count Elena) exception for alaric-damon and now stefan-Caroline

Bonnie getting with Damon would ruin her character for me. I know some people ship it but I just don't understand why. At no point have I felt like Damon actually cares about/likes Bonnie. They interact because of Elena and can often work together but if it weren't for Elena I don't think Bonnie would want anything to do with Damon and would have probably let him die in the fire in the Season 1 finale.
I agree though. I'd like to the brothers move on to non-Amara doppelgangers (but none of the current main characters - they need new ones) and for Elena to just be single for an entire season.
They need to sort the ripper virus subplot out (it feels like a subplot, if it isn't... ) and then things can go back to typical TVD. Hope they really explain the Travelers well since it's last thing they need to hit home with before this season ends since they have been prominent throughout the season.
Of course the ENTIRE group had to come together to end the Queen.

AMEN! They need to bring her back with a quickness! Queen Katherine was the ONLY reason why I watched this show. Not here for the poorly written twilight love triangle mess! Let us go to Hell and bring the Legend back!
