Has Leonardo DiCaprio ever really been snubbed?
I was just thinking, it's not that Leo doesn't deserve an Oscar because he does for being one of the best actors in the industry, but every year he lost I genuinely feel like the better actor won.
Jamie Foxx's portrayal of Ray Charles was more impressive (and complex) than Leo's Howard Hughes. Forest Whitaker also was a front runner and had a better performance in The Last King Of Scotland when Leo was up for Blood Diamond..
This year, I honestly didn't think much of the movie Dallas Buyers Club. But when they were showing the small clips, I remembered that Matthew's acting was actually phenomenal. Definitely on par with Leonardo's, if not better.
In all of these scenario's, I think it's the fact that his characters are never as complex as the winning guys. He plays pretty straight forward roles.
I think he's just getting unlucky with who he's up against. I don't think the Oscars have ever 'snubbed' him.

No. You're right. Every year he lost, the better actor won. Tommy Lee Jones, Jamie Foxx, Daniel Day Lewis, and Matthew McConaughey each gave a better performance than Leonardo in the years they beat him.

Leo has absolutely been snubbed. I stand by my opinion in saying that Leo had a better performance and deserved an Oscar against all that he has been nominated against. The fact remains that the Oscars are nothing but Hollywood politics which many insiders have said time and time again. When you look at the Titanic for example, Leo was the breakout star and was praised for it more than anyone, but did not even receive a nomination which is ridiculous. There is a reason when they played a clip of Wolf of Wall Street before announcing the awards, he got a significantly loud ovation. And if he wasn't that good millions of people wouldn't be in an uproar about him getting robbed.

Wolf of Wall Street was a deserving performance but the Best Actor category was filled with strong performances. (Bale wasn't good enough to win though ) People say he was snubbed for Django but I don't think so, he wasn't that good in it.

So I googled who won in the year Titanic was eligible. Leo wasn't nominated, but check this:
Jack Nicholson – As Good as It Gets as Melvin Udalldouble-dagger
Matt Damon – Good Will Hunting as Will Hunting
Robert Duvall – The Apostle Euliss "Sonny" Dewey, aka The Apostle E.F.
Peter Fonda – Ulee's Gold as Ulysses "Ulee" Jackson
Dustin Hoffman – Wag the Dog as Stanley Motss
C'mon guys, that's pretty stacked lol, especially for a young newbie like Leo. There was no way he would have beat Jack Nicholson. As Good As It Gets is one of my favorite movies of all time. I love Titanic too, but it wasn't reliant on Leo's role. It was just a great movie, he had many better roles after.
I don't wanna come off as a Leo hater though I love that guy. I was rooting for him yesterday actually.

Honestly, I think Matthew was much better, his best role. Matthew was always known for doing comedy or rom-coms and I was surprised to see him doing serious films like Mud and DBC and he absolutely nailed it with DBC, both him and Jared deserved the AA's.
I loved The Wolf of Wolf Street, but it just looked like a more glorified, Hungover movie for bankers with the only difference that it was made by a great director. Leo is a great actor but he was just outclassed by the better actors doing more serious films.

The only one I will say he should have one is for the Aviator even though i loved Ray but i can see why Jamie won. I'm surprised he didn't win let alone get nominated for Titanic

The Titanic was literally the biggest movie of all time even still today. Not only that his scenes from that movie are some of the most notable scenes ever made in film. There is no excuse for him not to be nominated for that movie. He also wasn't totally unknown because he played Romeo. Regardless of him being known or unknown, he should have been nominated.

I think Leo should have won for his first nomination.
1993
Tommy Lee Jones The Fugitive U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard - WON
Leonardo DiCaprio What's Eating Gilbert Grape Arnie Grape
Leo gave a far more emotional and touching performance than Tommy

His character in Wolf Of Wall Street was completely one-dimensional. That's more than likely the fault of the material or direction, but regardless, his acting range wasn't displayed that well. So this was his most worthy loss yet, in my opinion.

Really? I actually think Ralph Fiennes should've won that year for his performance in Schindler's List. I thought it was much better than Tommy's and Leo's. To each his own I guess.

It's not that he is a bad actor to me, it's just whenever he gets a nob his conpetition is either on par with him or arguably better. He has never really blown them all away. And considering the Oscars is the 'creme de la creme' it's expected. This year, he wasn't the best actor of the bunch though in regards to performance.

It's not that the Oscars hate him or snub him deliberately, if they didn't like him then he wouldn't have been nominated so many times. It really just all depends on who you are up against. Leo has just been unlucky there's theres always been a performance that has beaten his every time he's been nominated.
It happens to lots of great actors. Glenn Close has been nominated 6 times and has never won. Tom Cruise has been nominated 3 times and never won. Kate Winslet was nominated 4 times before she won for The Reader. Brad Pitt has never won an Oscar for acting, but he's been nominated 3 times. This year was Amy Adams fifth time being nominated, but she's still never won.

Lol how the hell was Leo a young newbie when Titanic came out? He'd already been nominated for an Oscar prior to Titanic.
Not to mention he had already been in various hugely successful and critically acclaimed films.

I'm pretty sure that there are plenty of talented actors in their 60s who have never recieved Oscars or even Golden Globes. This Leo joke is not funny people need to Let it Go tbh.
