Success is part of the things that make you an icon. It's not decisive, but it's a factor.
Why do you all discredit the importance of commercial success when it's not in your favor?
Janet may have influenced some current entertainers, but on a WW scale, Celine has influenced a generation of vocalists too.
For example, people in Asia don't even use much of Janet's music, let alone be influenced by her, while Celine has inspired many ballad songwriters in such countries.

Completely NOT true. She's a huge influence to alot of K-pop singers.
After School performing Rhythm Nation
Girls' Generation performing If
KARA performing Son of a Gun
And there's alot more but too many to post. Korean producer Yoo Young-jin also said he bases alot of his productions on Rhythm Nation.
i call ********. half of those probably just praised her. when has rihanna ever done something that's reminded you of céline? rita ora seriously? christina took notes from whitney and mariah, no one's checking for céline's technique. leona and ariana are basically mariah carey tribute acts. and katy perry is all about madonna.
Why do you have to look for resemblance in both artists' music to believe that Rihanna was influenced by Celine? I mean, Beyonce influenced Adele but there is nothing that resembles their music. As for Rihanna, Celine inspired her to start a career. And it came from Rihanna, herself.
I was inspired by Mariah Carey and Celine Dion. I was about seven years old when I discovered I had a voice and I told my Mom, "I wanna do this for real." - Rihanna
"Not really, because those were the kinds of artists that always influenced me. Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Destiny's Child." - Rihanna
Rita Ora is Celine Dion's #1 fan.
“Me and my dad always used to sing along to her songs.
“If I told the whole world he loved Celine Dion he’d kill me. Oops, I just told The Sun.” - Rita Ora
Not only is Celine Dion Ariana Grande's favorite singer, she's also her favorite fashion icon.
Christina talks about how much she looks up to Celine Dion.
And she also covered Celine's songs.
Leona also covered Celine's songs.
Celine has influenced a lot of artists in the current generation more than you guys know it.

Because Celine pretty much lacks anything else besides Success. None of her albums are groundbreaking or influential and critics loath her, ATRL is the only place where she isn't treated as a joke.
TBH, Janet is the one of the most forgettable successful artists. I never heard anyone talked about her except Britney (at the beginning of her career).

lol since when do millions upon millions of people purchase the albums of a "joke"? pay hundreds of dollars to see a "joke" live? you just don't like her. you don't like that she's winning the poll. and you don't like that she's more iconic than janet. it's obvious the butt hurt are the most insecure.

Celine >>>>>>>
Two of the guys in your avi credit her as a huge influence (Timberlake and Bruno) and Britney just mentioned her again two weeks ago. She's influenced literally everyone. I can post a ton of receipts but this thread isn't even worth it.

I thought you said commercial success =/=Icon? And now you're back with with that comment? Make up your mind buddy. And to answer your questions...The same way people purchased millions of singles from "LMFAO" and the same way people paid to see Justin Bieber or One Direction in concert. And why are you getting annoyed? As you said, she is winning this poll, and yet you're still getting annoyed? Is it because what i have been saying is true and she has no impact outside sales?

I wasn't talking about her being an icon. I was talking about her not being considered a joke outside ATRL. And the people who buy that music with their earned money do not view those people/songs as jokes. They like them, no matter what they say. Music is subjective and it's just a fact that there are more people who like Céline's music than there are who like the Jackson's.
Anyway, this is so stupid. You have your opinion and I have mine, so I'm done here.
