Even when on her A-Game Sharapova cannot keep up with Serena.
...and when Pova isn't on her A-Game it is just embarrassing

Serena is 5 slams away from catching up to Graf, and 1 away from Navratilova and Evert That's like saying Sam Stosur is as great as Kuznetsova Or Kuznetsova as great as Venus or Henin

 You are rambling sis
Believe it or not the person who posts the most smilies doesn't automatically win.

Yeah, 2006 if I remember correctly But Sharapova owned LDav. otherwise
Then got destroyed by Serena that next year 6-1 6-2 or something, right after the AO massacre
Poor Masha

Tbh, if Sharapova had won their match at the AO in 2005, the rivalry and their respective careers would be way different
But since she didn't, I live for the beatdowns
AO 2012 comes to mind Being destroyed by a first-time GS finalist

You got to give respect to Sharapova though, because she gets whooped almost every other tournament by Vika or Serena yet still believes she can win

I like Maria to an extent. I think she's done well for her physicality, but I think she was too successful too soon, and imo hasn't really lived up to her expectations. Of course I'm a little bitter about 2004, so that's why it's always fun to see Serena destroy her...over and over and over again.

I do admire her on court attitude and her work ethic though. I just think she REALLY REALLY needs a plan B, because when she's off, she just starts hitting harder and that's almost never good (kind of similar for Venus).

Was kind of put off by her comments about Serena before Wimbledon though. Pretty tacky considering Maria is usually very professional toward the press.

No you were not. You were launching personal attacks against her.

Sure people were shading Maria, but it was for her TENNIS. Which is appropriate since this is a TENNIS thread

All of these things may or may not be true, but she's flat-out just not as good of a tennis player as Serena. And as a fan of tennis, that's what I'm all about. But get money Maria!

 But didn't Serena start them?
Sharapova just can't match up well with Serena...ever since her growth spurt, she hasn't been able to move well enough when being run side to side, which you NEED in order to beat Serena. Jankovic, Azarenka, Venus, Capriati, Dementieva, Hingis all have/had GREAT movement. And if you can't, you have to be able to move Serena by using angled shots a la Bartoli or match her shot for shot in terms of power a la Stosur or Petrova, which Sharapova can't do.

Not to mention the mental aspect...ever since AO 2005 it's gone down hill...with the 2007 AO and Miami massacres and missed chances at Charleston 2008 and Wimbledon 2010, not to mention the Miami and French Open matches last year. Had she takes any one of those matches, her head to head would be quite closer, imo.

Maria Sharapova is a basic bitch. She deserved all the 15 lashings she received at the hands of our Lord and Saviour, Serenus Christ.

 Now things get extra messy
....ANYWAYS. I assume Serena/Venus are doing doubles at the AO?

She supposedly did, but that came indirectly from a reporter who was doing a story with her. It wasn't like Serena went to the press saying it like Maria did. Suspect to say the least tbh.

Yes they are! She said yesterday or today that she thought about asking Federer to play mixed, but she didn't want to play three events.

ALSO, Venus just withdrew from Hobart. After making the final in her previous tournament, probably not a bad idea.

I was really disappointed when she decided not to do mixed doubles at the Olympics
There is no way Venus lasts until then. So maybe 2016?
