There's no better way to explain its use on Rap God.
OK...?
Like it or not, it still reinforces & equates gay people as "less thans", or sissies, or weak, or less powerful. It's actually hilarious (& depressing) to me that some gays are in this thread defending him.
I think it's a KILLER track, but him using those words don't want me to listen to him again lol. It's weird, I was okay with him using those kind of things in the past because I thought he has changed now, well, he hasn't changed at all, this is just laughable, and all the gays defending him are laughable too.
I mean, WTF, society takes everyday little little steps to accept it more, and he as a person who is in the spotlight is making fun of it and people think it's okay because it's Eminem.
Such a hypocrite world we live in.
Just because he uses that swear word on his song does not mean the world would take a step back. Eminem is not homophobic, he cleared that before, he sang with Elton John once, I think. Straight people call themselves ******s sometimes, not in a bad way, Eminem is a rapper, when he releases a track, we don't know what to expect of it. I was impressed at first when I heard the song, but come on, it's just a song, it won't change my mind,
I'm so glad we have you bottoms up in arms to counter the ****ERY being written on the Yahoo article's comment section. If we're not upset as a minority, no one else is going to be upset for us.

That's the same as saying gays are weak and cowardly. Just because they aren't using the word literally to refer to homosexuals doesn't make it any less offensive. The word is still being used as an insult.

But hey... it's Eminem! SLAAAAAY
It's just a track. Actually, this is the first time I see people overreacting on the track, I mean, I've read good comments about it.

He literally said "if two people want to be miserable together they should be able to"
That's not supporting gay marriage
In the article I think he's implying that marriage in general is a miserable experience
Quote:
"as Eminem says, everyone gets the “chance to be equally miserable.”
He's obviously not an advocate for gay marriage/gay rights, but I think he's neutral. He doesn't care about most things, so I doubt he's care about a bunch of gays. As long as you don't shove a bunch of dicks in his face, he's cool with you.
Other rappers use it too, and Eminem's lyrics have always been shocking, so I don't see why this is a surprise.
The lyrics are homophobic, but he himself isn't.
I can't understand why people choose to selectively take his lyrics seriously. He spent the majority of Relapse talking about rape and murder yet no is calling him a serial killing rapist.
Pleaseee @ some of you saying Eminem has no influence. Even if he's getting older, he's still a mega star & he still definitely has an influence on a lot of teenage & young adult straight males.
I'm no social justice warrior, BELIEVE ME. That said, I hope all of you gays in here remember: the next time you get bashed or called out in the street, it's going to be okay, because it's "just a joke" & because Eminem has no influence on his straight fans by making them think these words are okay to use.
Musician Eminem sat down with Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes last night. And, since Cooper has become a champion against homophobia, the anchor asked Eminem to why he uses the word "fagg*ot" so freely.
Eminem explains that he's always heard the word, and that it's not necessarily tied to homosexuality, "That word was thrown around so much, you know? ****** was, like, it was thrown around constantly, to each other, like in battling, you know what I mean?" he asked, before insisting that he doesn't hate gay people. "I don't have any problem with nobody, you know what I mean. Like, I'm just whatever." Asked whether he needs to take responsibility for his words, Eminem puts the onus on parents to censor their children's lives.
As for criticism that's he a homophobe, brought up most often by the gay group GLAAD? Eminem plays the victim: "I felt like I was being attacked," he said. "I was being singled out. And I felt like, is it because of the color of my skin? Is it because that, you're paying more attention? Is it because there's certain rappers that do and say the same things that I'm saying. And I don't hear no one saying anything about that. I didn't just invent saying offensive things."
