Same can be said for Diamonds that went #1 in 25 countries and Rihanna being named the sexiest woman alive by Esquire in 2011 and the Woman of the Year for 2012 by GQ (American version). But anyway, Rihanna fits the standard, especially these days.

I think Rih is far more beautiful than Britney (at any age) but by mainstream standards, Britney fits better. And that isn't shade to either one--it just is what it is. A nonthreatening super cute girl next door type white girl will always fit the mainstream (typically extremely Eurocentric) standards more than a exotic and striking modelesque black girl with very ethnic features.

Beyonce's looks are not exotic what-so-ever, she's actually the standard for classic beauty unless she's presented with certain styling.
And I have no idea why you believe exotic looking women like Shakira and J.Lo are considered hotter than classic examples like Jennifer Lawrence or Kate Upton O.o.

BRITNEY JEAN SPEARS and its no competition. Her smile, body etc is iconic as her music. She's the standard as the pop stars before her weren't as beautiful than her (no pun taken). She made expressing your sexuality ok amongst pop stars. No other pop star was able to do it as flawless and easy as Britney. Every man on planet fantasized about her during her peak, the same can't be said about rihanna.

Britney is the embodiment of the typical Barbie-type, white, bottle-blonde Girl-Next-Door. While this type is considered as "the only true depiction of beauty" (and let's be real, it's considered beautiful only because there are very few people in the world who have natural platinum hair, most of them living in Sweden), it also sets a trap for young girls who recreate the look and make it less unique. Britney was considered as the beauty canon, but right now she's generic looking mostly because of the "trap" of those canons. I think that right now the canon screams "exotic" and that's what Rihanna is (especially with her mixed white and black features).
