HAIR HOW-TO: Go brown like Britney Spears for Spring 2013
With Britney Spears debuting her new brunette hair hue at last night's Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, and the shade already set for trend status come spring, we're feeling the glossy brown vibe here at Handbag HQ.
So luckily, Ken Picton aka Schwarzkopf Professional British Colour Technician of 2012, was on hand today to talk us through how to nail the look and join the darker side with ease...
"Brunette is huge for spring, and with Alexa Chung becoming the new face of L'Oreal Professionnel's Inoa range at the same time as they launch a new range of brunettes, you can bet this is one of the hottest shades you'll see this season.
"Britney's brunette uses several shades, which the best way to keep your brown hair from looking too block and dull.
"Britney's kept it lighter at the top here, which I like. Using three shades of Mocha brown to create a triple effect will give you a luxurious and modern finish.
"To make brunette even more interesting, have some softer hued panels underneath, but be sure to stay within two shades of your base colour, as this gives a lovely undertone of warmth.
"A biscuit shade is always complementary underneath a deep brunette, and is fabulous for those wanting to go warmer for the summer while keeping their brunette locks."
