Duh. Why do think she sold over 365k? Most of them people were quoting Nicki her lyrics on twitter, facebook etc from Mixtape Onika/Collabs and STILL are. Nicki is known for clever lyrics and punching lines. While all you hear from Azealia "fans" and most people are "this beat *****" etc. She's known for her HOUSE beats not talent. But that is neither here or there.

I don't want to get involved AT ALL but I think it needs to be said that it's not really cute when some of you are acting like Azealia Banks is some sort of big innovator & was the first person ever to rap over electronic beats though
Anyway, I declare this thread officially A-MESS.

And I think 1991, 212, and **** Up The Fun are masterpieces and that she still has plenty of potential for her album.

"212" is her only masterpiece in my eyes. I'll wait till I hear "Miss Amor" before I judge. And I thought her mixtape last year was horribly redundant.
And I'm not being hypothetical, Angel did record a track with Lunice, and it slays. But she's not interested in that route from the sound of her mixtapes, just like Azealia Banks isn't interested in being a "rapper."
Both are good at what they do, but listening to other female rappers, it's understandable why Azealia would want to shy away from that label. She can't stand a chance against any of them.

Azealia is responsible for picking what beats she wants to rap over. So I would say that makes her a smart business woman more than anything else. She knows her shortcomings, but knows with a good beat, she can mask those and make records people love.

You missed my point entirely.
You can't come for Azealia saying "Oh her fans only exist because of the rumored Gaga collaboration" when Nicki was also a nobody in the pop world/ATRL until she started doing high profile features. Thats how Nicki got her name known too, and you look silly trying to deny it.
And Azealia is known for her talent. There are a lot of girls who try to rap over house music. She got noticed because she raps really, really well over house music.

I knew nothing good could come from Azealia being a mess on twitter. I just never thought it would result in another female rapper body bagging her twice.
This track is sharp, but not something I'd listen to twice.

erm..
this is sad, a second track wasn't needed, this is like free promo for her though, I can see why she's doing it, Azealia is hot right now, so she can draw attention to herself

Also you can like and support someone by simply buying their music and enjoying it instead of ranting about it on a forum, making it some sort of contest and whomever hops on the bandwagon first wins.
"Original stans"
A lot of ATRL members were here for her during the Fantasea mixtape, and even before that. It's not a problem that some happen to be Gaga stans (also considering they're the majority on here). Just grow up.

!!!
I mean Azealia herself has cited MIA, Santigold, Amanda Blank as inspirations.
But nothing that gets popular is ACTUALLY original or ground breaking. I mean Madonna's whole career is taking underground scenes and turning them out.

Halien I love you, but I also don't get why you don't just mention me?
The irony is too much. The original stan comment wasn't even about original stans. It was about hypocrisy with the people who don't even STAN for her. Just hypocrites being hypocrites.

They clearly don't have a point or they wouldn't resort to some stale shade that everyone throws around. When Nicki is on, she's better than both of these girls, so let's just keep her out of the conversation, please.

I'm just saying its ridiculous to accuse people of being fans just because of the rumored collab when Nicki's empire was built on a string of amazing high profile collabs.
Everyone has a moment when they "discover" an artist. Just because Gaga fans discovered Azealia when the collab was announced doesn't mean they don't really like her music.

Diss tracks are fun, but in the grand scheme of things what do they even mean? Especially for someone like Azealia who doesn't claim the rap game the way most do. Azealia remains her own worst enemy.

I would love to hear Azealia Banks try to rap over a beat like "Werkin Girls" and see how far she goes with it.
Azealia is a smart girl who knows what gets people boppin these days. That's why she's working with these electro producers. Again, there's nothing wrong with that, but if Angel Haze was in the studio with those same producers, her material would be better than AB's. Just listen to Haze's track with Lunice for proof.
|
Isnt' she already?! Paul Epworth, Diplo, I don't see **** to do with producers when that point is null and void.

Because you're not the only one, it's a common behavior around here. They spam every thread thinking it makes them superior that they started stanning for some artist "first".
Like, a lot of us were here for her from the start, just didn't rant about it and make 1134 threads showing support. In addition there's nothing wrong with "bandwagoning" when you think about it, each and every one of us followed a bandwagon at one point.

But Nicki built her fanbase because of her talent on features such as "Monster." Azealia is getting a bigger fanbase all because of hype. No one has heard this song, but because it's Gaga, Azealia must be great and anyone who insults either is clearly not an intellectual being.
And yeah, they could very well be enjoying the music, but I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that will eat up anything Gaga does. I mean, I see it all the time on here.

We have proof of celebrities like Miley Cyrus quoting Nicki's Bottoms Up lyrics and Trey Songz certainly wasn't a SOMEBODY then.
and most of ATRL knew who Onika was they just didn't care since it was a POP music forum. but i'm talking outside of ATRL as well. AB's fan base majority made up of Gaga fans and teens on tumblr who consider marina "hipster" you can't deny that. And everything Azellia does is GAY friendly her beats being the most obvious. Which is why most of them came CLINGING to her like a moth to a flame while Nicki was straight hip-hop. You can't compare them.

Are you really having this much trouble believing people might like/love music you don't?
