T.G.I.F. is clearly designed for 10-year-olds to watch. Kathy Beth Terry is ridiculously stupid.
E.T.'s video is basically a damn cartoon. Wide Awake has a little girl in it, and that seems more than on purpose to me.
And though she didn't start marketing things towards children, it certainly became that way.
Either way, recording a song called "Ur So Gay and You Don't Even Like Boys" followed by
songs dedicated to/about homosexuality isn't necessarily appropriate.
I never read anything about her admitting her parents forced her into the Christian Rock industry.
I'm not saying she's a "bad Christian" I'm just saying she's not sticking close to her original ideals.
Makes you wonder.
The songs that aren't ridiculous are gimmicky, it doesn't seem like her, and she literally
reinvents herself to the point where I don't know what she is. When I think "Katy Perry" no
specific image pops into my head, but a plethora of undecided, tossed-away gimmicky images.
It's a temporary fix, but isn't going to do in the long run for any artist.
I don't base my opinions on her because of her fans, I just can never be a strong part of her
fanbase because of them - like I said, I kind of enjoyed her debut era.

Last Friday Night is about having fun, going to a party, etc and that's what the music video portrayed. For a fun promotional aspect she created the character Kathy Beth Terry to make it more fun. It was all promotion.
ET, Extraterrestrial, it's about aliens, she was in outerspace, as an alien, pretty to-the-book music video concept for the song.
Wide Awake was about her life since One of the Boys. The little girl, that is clearly shown in the video, is her younger self. The dream she had as a little kid is what is pushing her through and keeping her going in the industry. Throughout the years, she looks back to her to keep her head in the game instead of losing it.
She never came out and said I want to be a role model for young children. No one really knew her until "I Kissed A Girl" came out and got controversy because of that. That's not saying "children look up to me".
They paid for the Christian record, so obviously they wanted her to sing that. If she wanted to do something else, she'd have to do it on her own which is what she did. She moved to LA, met up with The Matrix and Greg Wells, and did her thing. She's still sticking to her Christian religion, she's just not singing about it like her parents first approved of.
When you think of an artist you're not suppose to pin point the same picture and be like oh that's so and so. If you see Katy in an outfit you can pin point her out and be like "Oh that's Katy Perry." The way she looks is also a form of self expression. She dyes her pink, self expression. Dyes it blue, self expression. Is there a problem with experimenting with your look? You don't always have to look 1-2-3 during every era. It's being different and standing out from all the rest.
You don't have to be a part of her fanbase. I mean look at me, I like Lady Gaga but would never call myself a Monster because her hardcore fanbase. I like Rihanna, but I would never be called a navy member because of her hardcore fanbase. I like them and listen to them because of their music. If we look at someone I dislike, Justin Bieber, I am a fan of some of his songs. I have expressed it before. However, my opinions on him and his fan are similar but totally different. I don't associate them with his music and songs.
You get points for her debut era. "Fingerprints" >>>
