I would have to disagree. She is only "basic" to those who cannot see the bigger picture of her artistry, beyond the perfectly crafted series of radio hits that she has. What she truly envisioned to create with the whole Teenage Dream concept was highly innovative and complimentary to her place as a true talent in the recording industry. Perry has solidified herself as a true force, and has brought back the conventions of being a pop star, whilst imprinting her own personal characteristics of quirkiness throughout her discography, image and music videos in a way that is NOT excessive or contrived, but natural.

Cyndi - 11 studio albums (3 in the 80s and 3 in the 90s)

Katy - 2 studio albums (both in the digital age)

Edit: Katy's album also went #1 hell of a lot more places than any of Cyndi's album combined. You think with all those "pop classics" her album would go #1 in a few places.
