I have a friend who is signed to Capital Records and has told me that they are VERY VERY calculated with Katy Perry's every move.

Think about it, isn't this given. She hires management for a reason. She doesn't have a business degree; they do. But it's not like how you think it is. She comes up with the music and makes the executive decisions. Her management guides and can make them for her, but she always has the final say. She sometimes makes her own decisions independent from what anyone at Capitol has to say. IKAG was her decision. ET was her decision. The concepts of all her videos are her ideas or one on one collaborations. The tour was a tour she dreamed up, inspired by Will Cotton's candy theme.
I honestly think she is a one of the most independent pop stars in the business right now. Lady Gaga can claim that title too. So she earns my respect there.
