Freakshow was not even a really heavy dubstep song anyways it just used a little sample from the genre.
If anything RIHANNA was the first major pop girl to REALLY use dubstep in her tracks. Britney was the first to EXPERIMENT with it but RIHANNA was the one to bring it to MAINSTREAM Audience.

That makes sense, when Britney uses it in her album tracks it isn't trendsetting, yet when Rihanna does it two years later on her album tracks, it is.
