I can't really think of other popstars that started using dubstep in their music. My memory may be bad or missing something. Dubstep was kinda big last year in other scenes especially movie and videogame trailers but not in the pop music scene from what I remember anyway.anyway I'm excited to see what madeon has in store for gaga.
dubstep (or terrible knock offs of dubstep) was used a lot as a replacement to traditional bridges in a lot of pop/rnb songs this and last year. Not very many full dubstep beats though Alex Care's Too Close is the last major song I can think of that used dubstep, but in the chorus.

Alex Care is British though, and dubstep has been relatively common place on our charts since before HIAM. It originated here, after all.
There's no lies but I don't think Britney's song influenced other pop songs. I mean.. dubstep becoming popular influenced the britney song, not the other way around.

a year before HIAM came out my producer friend was talking to me about dubstep (I never heard of it) and he was saying how its gonna be huge in the general public soon and he was trying to figure out how to make pop songs out of it for this girl group he was working with. While dubstep has been huge overseas and with edm it never had any real major market success in the pop side. What I think luke did was catch on to the same trend my friend did and tested it out with the britney song, people loved it and that made luke use it more and other producers start using it more in pop songs kind of like how sexyback really popularized the four on the floor more european style. thats just how i see it

That's true, but GOING WITH THE ODDS alone, it's highly unlikely that it had nothing to do with starting the trend when there were no dubstep influenced songs in the U.S mainstream music BEFORE HIAM, then after it, dubstep breakdowns became extremely popular.
More like pop step. Dr. Luke does not create true dubstep. Chase & Status are true dubstep producers, so I'd say Rihanna was first to bring the real thing.

We all know Britney started dubstep with songs like "Freakshow" and others on Blackout
