Just zoom past all the unnecessary details and read the important parts. I hate when I come to a question on the Reading part and it says "What did the writer mean here when she said '___'" And there are paragraph answers. I have one minute per question, that's just evil. And ESPECIALLY on the English part where they say "Suppose the writer wants to insert this sentence '__' in the passage. What paragraph should it go in?" That's just blasphemy.

Everything you said I agree with. Especially with the English, I then have to go back and quickly scan the paragraphs to see which would fit best.

Does anyone have any advice for studying for the SAT/ACT, I'm taking 3 APs and am in many clubs so I have no time to study.

Tbh, you should keep your focus on your 3 AP tests because you can take the SAT/ACT as many times as you want after that. That's what I'm doing. I kept my focus on my college classes my junior year, took the ACT, got a 24 which is OK but I'm taking it again as a senior with more time to focus on it.

You can take SAT prep classes; I personally went to the library and got a SAT book and just studied

I just don't want that anxiety of waiting til senior year for ACT/SAT when I'm going to be taking 4 APs and I'll be applying to universities and scholarships. I want to wrap up everything this year.

Which SAT book do you recommend? I'm leaning towards Princeton since it helped me out with AP Euro.

Purchase a SAT and ACT study book, I got both for like $30 on amazon. I just study them any time I get free time, especially on the weekends. Also you should sign up for prep classes. I take the PSAT next week, so this week I'm going to try to get as much studying in as possible. I have an AP class and tons of clubs.

Hmmm does your high school offer prep classes?? Because a month or so before our ACT, they offered us some prep classes like an hour before school every other day. Those are super helpful and they don't really get in the way since it's before school. Hopefully you get more info when the time comes. OR you can try your best when the time comes and then retake it in the summer. Which is very unpopular.

I can't say the same for the SAT since I'm from a western state. I don't know how it works.

If you have a local library you can get some ACT/SAT books there. I just went to mine last weekend and they had a ton of practice books on the shelves. If that doesn't work out you can do what Deuces. recommended and buy some books online. Ebay and Amazon are your best bet. Go with Amazon first since it's easier to just get the item right away instead of bidding against others.

I can't say the same for the SAT since I'm from a western state. I don't know how it works.

Well I'm in AVID which is basically a college prep class but we've barely gotten into the SAT yet. Also it's first period which means it starts at 6:50

I never hear about the ACT but the logistics of it seem much more reasonable and easier than the SAT.

I was. When I took the PLAN, it said I would make anywhere from a 32-36 on the ACT. Ummm, that did not happen. But it makes sense. I didn't try on the ACT at all since the school paid for it and made us all take it. I wrote one paragraph on the Writing section, and I literally did not even try on the very last Science section.

Anyway, I'm hoping my new SAT scores improved when I get them this month. My second and last time taking them.

From my understanding, the ACT focuses more on Math/Science, where as the SAT focuses on English/Math.

I'm not sure though, I've never taken either. I took a SAT prep class over the summer and 2 practice SAT tests. The ACT would be more for Engineers/Pre-Med students, I would think.
