Well, I thought about a straight total-play ranking, but that would leave older albums disadvantaged and then certain people that listen to music more would dominate the ranks. I'm sure that we all listened to Miss Independent, for example, a monstrous amount when it was first released, but because people change computers/reset counts/etc. it would otherwise have no way to chart. I put much thought into it, and this was the best system I could find.

The system works to an extent, but when the live version of BD ranked much lower than the studio version, that should have sent up a red flag. Something isn't right

The only way I could simulate a fairly-accurate listing of songs was to develop a relatively complex system to score them. It's really like this: Each song receives a percentage of total album plays and is then simply multiplied by the number of songs on the album. So if Miss Independent received 10/100 plays, because there are 12 songs on the album, it gets 1.2 points (10% of 12).

SCORING METHODOLOGY:
In an effort to eliminate factors (for example, the age of an album, newer computers, the length of an album, etc.) that might tamper with an accurate ranking of all Kelly's songs, a specific scoring methodology will be employed. For every participant, each album will be given a weighted multiplier equal to the number of songs submitted by that person (see example below), and those points will then be distributed among the album's songs according to the percentage of total album plays the given song has.
So if Person A turns in play counts for only 13 songs on Stronger (instead of the total possible 18), then the album is given 13 total points to split among the 13 submitted songs. (However, if Person B submits play counts for all 18 songs on Stronger, then the weight would simply be 18 instead of 13). This weight better ensures that songs on longer albums receive a fair amount of points; my reasoning is that, in theory, someone could actually give an equal number of points to all 75+ songs. For example:
Person A:
Stronger = 1596 plays
Mr. Know It All = 145 plays
What Doesn't Kill You = 223 plays
(145/1596)*13 = 1.1811 (roughly)
(223/1596)*13 = 1.8164 (roughly)
This means Person A contributes approximately 1.1811 points to the overall score for Mr. Know It All and 1.8164 points for Stronger (WDKY). Thereafter, each album for every person will be calculated in precisely the same fashion, and subsequently all points for each song will be compiled (so, the points from Persons A, B, C, etc., for Since U Been Gone will be added together). Thus, a list ranking the plays for all of Kelly's five albums will be created whilst minimizing many factors that could negatively influence the results.

Ok, I just actually read this. Da ****?

In all honestly, the Thankful version got roughly the same number of actual plays as the Breakaway version. And, even then, 75% of Breakaway BD's plays were from one person; whereas the Thankful version got a healthy number of plays from most people. Therefore, I still maintain the system is as accurate as one could make it.

Oh why didn't you just say that
And I agree I think it's probably the best system. Because some people only bought the standard version instead of the deluxe version.
