Jesus Christ she's a pop star. Having her damn dancers wear "flamboyant" clothes in her music videos isn't something to be taken seriously...

Does that mean it's not true? Does that mean it wasn't the intention? Does that mean I'm seeing something that isn't there, just because most people don't notice it?...

Yeah, what you said may be truth, I just said what I heard that general public say about the song/video, the song was massive in latinamerica but many ppl dislike the video because it wasn't what they were expecting for this kind of song
But I respect and don't deny that what you say it's the way that Gaga thought when she made the video.

It was helpful, I think. I'm mostly here for her because her music is great, but she's also the only popstar out there right now who is willing to make songs like Born This Way and be fearless about it in the public eye. I love that about her.

I don't see a problem with it either, Madonna's done it countless of times and she's all for gay rights too. But since it's Gaga it's bad

She never presented that as the only image of gay people
She has always, always talked about how gay people come in all shapes and sizes.
If you see people dressed like the Rio carnival accepted on the national stage, and you're any shade of "straighter-acting" than that, you might think, 'Wow, if people like that can have successful lives, and be accepted by society, surely I can too.'

Lol.
Alejandro is a derivative of Alexander meaning 'defender', or 'protector of man'. Sort of like God.
Fernando means 'ardent of peace'. Sort of like Jesus.
Roberto means "bright and shining". Sort of like the Holy Spirit.
I'm not your babe, Alejandro.
Babe, in the bible, means child. She is distancing herself from Alejandro. Alejandro is God, remember?
I'm not your child, God.
I don't remember, but I'm fairly sure this is around the time she swallows the rosary. The rosary (along with the Sacred Heart) is the ultimate representation of Catholicism. This could be interpreted two ways:
1. She is denouncing the Catholic church. She's eating God, basically. This is actually kind of ironic considering how Catholic churches metaphorically consume god at communions-- with the sacramental wine and bread and stuff.
2. She is taking in the holy. She has a desire to become holy, to be close with God.
In the beginning of the video, you see a heart (presumably the Sacred Heart) with some sort of syringe in it. I'd basically interpret this the same way.
You'll also notice she's depicted as a marionette, on strings. This is kind of like she's Gods puppet.
The homoerotic scene of Gaga seemingly ****ing gay men is also very metaphorical. If you notice, they're all resisting, and it's kind of like they're in some Nazi concentration conversion camp. Gay men not conforming.. refusing to have sex with a straight woman.. they're still gay. Kind of like you're born gay and can't do anything about it, maybe?
There's some more imagery but I can't be asked to go any deeper. I doubt you'll read this, either.

@GreaseyBruce
Seeing as you hate this "flamboyant" image Gaga has imprinted and seethe at the fact that she made the stereotypes worse, why don't you rant about Adam Lambert? He's gay, he adovcates gay rights strongly and does everything you think is bad for the gay community's image. But I guess it's only bad when Gaga does it

I remember when Vigilant Citizen confirmed the trinity thing as well. Nicely explained, that's pretty deep and if Gaga meant it that way then

You know that I love you boy, hot like Mexico rejoice, at this point I've gotta choose, nothing to lose.
Those lyrics right there have nothing to do with the theme you presented to me. I'm convinced some of you gaga stans dig deeper into her songs than you should

Pretty sure Gaga found it condescending when you went on a rampage and called her a tranny.

No, that would be called rude.
I also thought it lacked finesse. Very heavy-handed.

I'm sorry.. but are you stupid?
Mexico is hell. She's at a crossroads and doesn't know if she can go on being a Catholic.
You know that I love you boy (God), hot like Mexico (hell) rejoice, at this point I've gotta choose.. she has to choose her religion or her acceptance of gays, basically.

You really hit the nail on the head! They're all made to conform in the video, but after she swallows the rosary, they have their military fashion show where she snaps and struts and they werq the runway by individualizing their uniforms.
The video is very layered, about religion's control of gay people, Gaga's struggle with religion (she burns at the end, which can either be interpreted like the stoning in Judas, or like she's consumed by holiness), Gaga's love for gay people, etc etc. Notice the soldier with the gun pointed at his crotch while dangling from marionette strings, etc.
You can insist that none of that is in the song. I think it is. Look at the mention of the "halo around her finger" (= ring = marriage = religious institution), the refusal to be with the guys (because she's not what they need = because they're gay and it wouldn't be real), her boyfriend being "like a dad" (because it's platonic/protective/caring, instead of sexual ... also possibly a reference to God), etc.
Just because a video makes you reinterpret the song, doesn't mean the two have nothing to do with each other.
