I have a question do u guys think that lip-synching makes a singer less of an artist. Do they just become a performer or an "actor"? Would you or do you love ur fave artists if u knew that she/he did it most of the time? Why is it unacceptable for Ashlee when we knew that Britney did it? Would you pay for a concert if you knew that it wasn't going to be live? Is it worth ur $ or ur time? I personally can name the places where Xtina did it. I would have been disappointed in her if I didn't know that she lipped because she had to i.e. cduk, top of the pops. Anyway, opinions?

- Umm .. when was it ever acceptable for Britney to do it? She got the most media scrutiny out of all the tater tot females for lip synching.

At least Britney tried to compensate for it with high energy dancing and extravagant tour performances.

The likes of Ashlee, Hilary, etc, who lip synch now, have very little else to rely on (i.e. dancing, or the ability to pull off a high-octane energy driven show). As if they had vocal talent to begin with, but that's a whole other "new topic".

I was just dropping a name. Other names- Elton accused Madonna of it. I can't comment on that because I haven't followed her since her material girl stages. Mariah has been doing it ever since she came back. I personally don't remember people seriously scrutinizing Britney over it though. I remeber them constantly asking her if she thinks that she could sing & what does she feel about people saying that she can't.
& singing and dancing at the same time CAN be done. There's no excuse. Nsync had heavy dance routines & they did it. Janet performs to a track that isn't pre-recorded & that doesn't drown her out. I think that MJ is hands down the king of live performances. I don't know how he does it. To me, there's nothing else like the moment when you see ur favorite artists live. I remeber the Justified/Stripped Tour and it was almost like u were connecting w/ them. It's just not the same if it's not live.

I dont think that singin live make an artist i mean sometimes for technical reasons(ex:some award show are really cheap so some artists dont want their performance to be ruin because of technical troubles) or even personal reason an artist could not sing live thats normal and its imposiible for a human to always sing live and personally idk any artists who never lipsynk
but in another hand i would be highly disapointed if in every performance an artist that i like lipsync

Personally, I don't mind - as long as it's entertaining. Period. Some people can sing their little hearts off - but I'm not entertained. As long as they give it their all - lipsynching or not and I am entertained, that's all that matters.

LSers kind of bothers me. I wouldn't pay for a concert ticket if I knew the lead singer was going to do that throughout the entire concert.

Pancsonic im not sayin you a hater cuz idk but usually only haters use the fact that other artists are sometimes lipsyncin to hate on ....
everytime there is a perfomance there are those who like the energy and the whole performance and haters who have nothin to say but she lipsynced or she was overdoin but they dont think one second that all this accuentuate the entertainment

I guess it depends on what type of music u like. I mostly listen to music like Janis, Ramones, Donny Hathaway, Etta James, Stevie Wonder, etc. Where it's all about either that on point vocal performance or pouring out ur heart & soul into the mike. So yeah basically I like older music maybe that's why I don't like this business of all these newer artists lip-synching.

yeah you totally right on this point it depends on the type of music but this doesnt mean that pop artist are allowed to lipsync every song
i mean i can stand if a pop artist lipsync a uptempo song but not a ballad
and yeah we kinda have the sam emusic taste aside beyonce lol

however you feel, wherever you are you can sing live it might be bad cos of illness or technical problems but still will be 2034ı209420948024 times better than lippin these things arent excuses for lippin there are artists who never lip eventhough they dance/entertain whatever

No. This thread applies to all lip-synchers hence the title.

i'd say it's ok to lip sing under certain cicumstances.. 1. the place you're singing at doesn't let you (TOTP), 2. they want it to be perfect and don't want to mess it up (MTV Awards) 3. you're sick and don't want to cancel a show.

If I remember correctly, I think Kelly Clarkson did a TOTP once, and she did it live (from what I've ever seen, she's never not sung live). I think she did comment that all the bands and stuff were pre-recorded, and that most people did lip sync on the show.

And I don't like it when singers lip-sync at concerts (i mean... what's the point?), but on TV performances I usually won't have a problem with it.

No excuses for me what so over i dont pay good amount of money to see you lip at a live concert. They call them live concerts for a reason. Nothing gets under my skin more then that i have seen goo goo dolls and alicia live in concert and yes the tickets where 60 bucks but i got my moneys worth.

It dont matter to me. As long as it is a GREAT performance. Bees performance at 2003 VMAS was ALL LIPPED and it was AMAZING!! Britney Spears done lipped so many performances and she has put on great performances.

However, some people go live like and SUCK! I dont care if u sing live, if u suck its BORING! However, at least they made an effort I guess..but I rather them lipsing if they gon f**k up live.

And if I know u can sing, it DEFINATELY doesnt matter if u lipsing a few performances. IT would bother me if someone lipsing ALL their performances tho. Has someone ever done that?

LMAO! That's what I thought at first too. I don't mind lip-synching sometimes but I'd rather my fav celebs sing LIVE! It's just different and it's what I expect of them as true artists.

Ashlee was holding a mic in her hands and she was supposed to be singing live and as roger said ,ashlee and hilary don't make such performances with high energy so there is no need to lipsync.

On the other hand, Whenever you see britney holding a mic ,that means she's singing live . Britney does make hardcore choreography . But whenever it comes to ballads , britney does NOT lipsync.

and I'd go and pay money for a britney concert because she does make GREAT shows , they're very entertaining and britney does different versions of her songs each time and she lipsyncs to a pre-recorded vocals (NOT a studio track vocals) , so it sounds LIVE to me and she brings the house down with her super energy. Her shows are definitely worth the money.

and btw, Ashlee almost never lipsyncs , that SNL incident made everyone think of her as a lipsyncer , but actually she's singing live all the time and she sounds great.

It's all about how entertaining these shows are, I can go and watch a full live concert by elton john ,but hell I'd be bored to tears because he's definitely not entertaining.
