why is ashlee's SNL Moment really infamous?????

Lip-syncing is not encouraged in general, as these artists are supposed to be defined by their vocal ability through CDs and performances, rather than the performance itself, which is why Taylor Hicks is sooo completely overrated for his performances, which is all he has. Artists like Ashlee Simpson and Hilary Duff are not true artists, as they are more a stunt than anything. They are there to sell and be famous, rather than be remembered for their music (in a good way). Britney Spears has been "let through" because she works hard at making entertaining performances and at least attempts @ live performances sometimes and music that can be enjoyable (see "Beat Of My Heart").

I think britney is paid to lipsync, nobody wants to hear her sing cuz she can't. I love her shows, i love to see how her boobs move along with the music, but her ballads are unbearable it doesn't matter if she sings them live or not, all of them suck.

Anyways, getting back to the topic Britney is a great lipsyncher, she's among my favorites.

They are artists, and they should perform live all the time or at least when possible, the only lipsyncs i can forgive is when they're sick or when they prepared a big show with dance moves and everything, i mean they're singers not superman

I somehow agree with you. But Deep down I realize something. Should I like someone because they sing their heart out BUT gave a lousy performing, or should I like someone who lip-syn but gave the best performing ???

I think it really depends on the artist. If they're more about choreography and putting on shows with a lot of pyrotechnics (i.e-Britney) then nobody really expects them to sing live because one, those type of artists put more emphasis on dancing and two, most of them don't have much of a voice to begin with. If they're main focus is their voice (i.e- Christina) then everyone will expect them to perform live. I think most people know what to expect with certain artists.
