Melrose Place
September 8, 2009 to April 13, 2010
Let me start off by saying that I've been devastated since forever that this godsend flopped. No, I'm not talking about the stoneage Melrose Place that the oldies watched back in like the 20's. I'm talking about the Melrose Place that was tailor-made for me. It was my lifeeeeeee every Tuesday night at 9. The storylines, the twists and turns, the abundance of pretty people living the mostt amazing lifestyle, the spectacular houses, the whole show was filled with perfection. My eyes were glued to the screen for the whole 40 minutes of each episode. Like, I cannot get over how PERFECT this show was.
I love, love, love, love, love, love, love, lovee, loveee it!!
The characters. I lovee this perfectly-built cast of flops. Katie Cassidy played one of my favorite characters of allll time with Elle. The way she shut down Heather Locklear in the finale. Oh myy goddddddddddd. Lauren being a prostitute to pay for med school; Elle wanting Jonah, and then getting him only to be turned down once he goes back to Riley; Ashley's character just being weird; Auggie and Violet being kicked out of the show mid-season. Perfff. I've decided to re-watch the show, and if it wasn't about to be 2 in the morning, I would just straight sit my ass in front of the computer for the next 15 hours and go at it. But since I have to do stuff tomorrow, that won't be possible.
And this thread will probably flop just as hard as the show did, but maybe someone else was blessed enough to have enjoyed this amazing angel that came down from heaven in the form of a tv show.

I just can't with this ignorance,
I'm a huge fan of the reboot, but it has absolutely NOTHING on the original. The original show was trendsetting, and stands as one of the greatest soaps of all time. It was 10x more scandalous and juicy than the remake, much funnier and more clever, and had way better characters.
I'm not disrespecting the remake, because the new version was fantastic and one of the best teen soaps out today (slays Gossip Girl, Pretty little liars and all that crap) but the original is absolutely incredible.
Don't come in here bashing something you've never even seen properly just because it's 'old'. SMH.

Gurl, I was kidding. I haven't even tried to watch the show honestly. I'll probably end up giving it a try eventually.
I can't believe no one else cares for the reboot though
Omg you guys. If the original is honestly better, then I may just sit my ass down for the next couple of days and watch the whole series. I can't picture anything being better than this though.
The reboot was terrible in comparison to the original. I'm still mad they axed Ashlee, though.
I don't understand how people can call the reboot terrible. It's honestly amazing.
And I do love the whole cast of the show too. There's very few shows where the whole cast is likable, and for me, this is one of them.

tbh I only watched like 2 full episodes of this Here in Mexico it was aired on Sony but I was in school at that time
But the little I saw was very good, and I'm not usually a fan of these shows
Omg, like you don't even know how amazing it was if you only saw 2 episodes. Everything ties together, and there's always something to every character's move. Like there's no second in the show that doesn't have significance. That's what I love about the show.

Have you ever seen the original? Like any episode?
If not, I guarantee that you will love the original. The best part of the show was from Season 2-Season 6.
They should have not killed Sydney.. again. That was a big mistake. Viewers were pissed off about that, especially the older viewers. They tried to save the show by bringing back Heather Locklear. She saved the 90s' version, but it just did not work out with this one, Another reason why it flopped is because Melrose Place is not really teen show. The CW targets teen audiences the most. The show just did not fit the network. The show is more adult oriented, especially the old version.

I'm a teenager and I loved it. It was an awesome show -- despite its major flaws. And Ella was so flawless. She was my favorite character.
But I agreed. It was one of their biggest mistakes. But it did get slowly better towards the middle of the season. But towards the end -- the writers seem like they just gave up and threw anything in and that was it.

I haven't seen the original; I don't even think I've watched a second of it. I'll give it a chance and see what I think. If it's better than the remake though, then dear lord I don't know what I'll do.

I do remember the ratings going up. I was actually tracking the viewership of this show every week because I honestly did NOT want it to get canceled. I also remember that there was a list of the most watched shows on DVR after their original airing date, and Melrose Place was on top of the list for Tuesday nights and The CW as a whole, I believe.

Ella was the bestt!!
I'm a teenager, and I was around 14-15 at the time of the show's run and I enjoyed it. I can see how it would target more mature audiences though.
Wonda, I guarantee you that if you take the time to watch the full original show, you will LOVE it! No crappy remake can top the original, especially with MP. You'll see the show is nothing in comparison.
If you are going to start watching, start from seasons 2 or 3. Seasons 2-5 are the best years. The last two are good, but don't have the spark the original seasons had. You will be very bored with season 1, so don't bother watching it.
Also, Heather Locklear is the reason this show carried on! If it hadn't been for her this show would have been canned by the first season!

I'm not saying all teens did not enjoy the show, but most of them prefer shows like Gossip Girl or 90210.
